I think this win is going to hurt them in the long run. Had they lost to Egypt they would've completely retooled, but instead they'll run the same crappy operation and go 0-3 again first round of the World Cup.
It's like you have a Ford Probe and you keep throwing money at it and just when you're ready to scrap the junker it magically happens to beat a Z01 Vette off the line. The fact is it's still a Probe and it'll end up screwing you in the end. [/soccer cynic]
the only way the entire federation gets retooled is if we don't qualify for the World Cup. If we had went 0-3 in the confederations cup I don't think anything happens, short of the players and fans having zero confidence going into 2010.
besides, whatever future holds that was the most excited I've ever been watching the USMNT play.
