Lego Ninjago Fight!

My son is SUPER into Lego Ninjago right now. If you're unfamiliar Ninjago is a line of ninja Legos. There's a TV show, a bunch of books and of course Legos. He's so into them that we went to a Lego convention this weekend and yesterday when I asked him what his favorite part was he said "the black ninja", refering to the back Ninjago mini-figure we bought him.

There was a 40,000 piece Hogwarts there and a 8 foot long Star Destroyer and to him the 4 dollar figure we bought him was the highlight of the show.

Ewok Village Lego Set unboxing

My son's birthday is about a month away which is both cool and annoying. Annoying because I have to figure out what we're going to do as far as a party goes. He's been invited to a couple cool birthday parties this summer and the pressure to throw a good one is on the grow. You have any idea how expensive it is to rent out a bouncy gym for 2 hours? Hella, that's how expensive.

The fun part is that daddy gets to go toy shopping without mom being all like "he doesn't need any new toys" or "that's not for him, it's for you". I'm thinking something in the Lego Star Wars line. This Ewok Village set is probably a little advanced for a 4 year old but who cares? Look at all the mini-figs it comes with!

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes is my next purchase

For the last week my twitter machine is 95% people talking about how awesome GTA V is. The other 5% is people talking about Breaking Bad. I'd like to pick up GTA V but there's really no point. All of my video game time is spent playing with my son, which means I'm all Lego Star Wars, Lego Batman 2 and Lego Harry Potter (in that order).

The good news is that as much as I would like to sit down for 10 hours straight playing GTA V, I really like the Lego games. The bad news is I've played the Rebel Base mission on Lego Star Wars so many times I'm pretty sure I could do it blindfolded. Anyway, Lego Marvel Super Heroes comes out in like a month. I'm pretty sure it's what Logan is getting for his birthday, yay me.

The LEGO Movie is a real thing

When I first heard there was a Lego movie coming out I just assumed it would be a CG horror show like the Lego Star Wars special or that terrible Ninjago cartoon my son thankfully doesn't like. BUT NO! It's an honest to Odin stop-motion movie made with Legos. I mean I'm sure there's some digital effects in there somewhere but for the most part this looks 100% youtube certified stop-motion. That's pretty cool.

Boy Meets Links

Far Cry 3: The Kotaku Review. Man there isn't a game out there this holiday season that has impressed me in it's previews as much as Far Cry 3 has. This thing looks pretty killer but I'm still knee deep in Borderlands 2 and I haven't even touched my copy of Halo 4. Maybe I'll be able to pick up Far Cry 3 on the cheap after Christmas. Or even better, maybe this game will bring me back to PC gaming. That is if I can build a PC that won't blue screen it's pants every couple hours.

AMAZING LEGO Star Wars R2-D2 Set. You have any idea how much Legos cost these days? I've been hitting the Christmas shopping hard the last couple days (for my son of course) and these sets have gotten out of hand. It's like everything cool starts at $50 and if you really want to have some fun you're looking at over $100. Don't even get me started on the wooden train racket.

People like Red Dawn because they hate Asians. I still don't understand people who think it's cool to be openly racist on the internet. Keep that shit to your clan rallies and cross burnings please.

Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel Officially Join Girl Meets World Pilot. Rejoice TGIF lovers, The Boy meets world sequel, Girl meets World, is a go. At least it's a go for a pilot episode on ABC Family. Also relevant, my one of my favorite verses from Canadian rapper Wordburglar: "So shape up I break it down like Jenga, My rhymes look good Like tight shirts on Topanga"

Lego Batman 2 Trailer kicks bricks

So Marvel Heroes looks like a snooze, that's ok because Lego Batman 2 looks amazeballs. Ignoring the fact that I never finished Lego Harry Potter, I love the Lego video games. Word on the street is that Lego Batman 2 is going to have a more open world feel to it, which would be a nice change of pace. I think that's part of the reason I never finished Harry Potter because after a few hours it started getting awfully repetitive. An open world and a wider range of playable characters should be just what the doctor ordered.

They have little Lego doctors right?

The Dark Lego Rises

Here's the trailer for the Dark Knight Rises done completely in Legos. At this point I think it's safe to assume that any movie trailer is going to get the Lego treatment at some point. As much as I enjoy these I wish some uber-nerd would branch out and do one of these in something other than Lego. Maybe Capsula or Robotix, now that would be awesome.

Lego Millennium Falcon, Assemble!

Uber-nerd Francisco Prieto will see your Lego Millennium Falcon and raise you a 3-D CGI Lego Millenium Falcon. You can watch the virtual build process with this video, which was created over a 3 year period using 3ds max, and V-Ray.

You know, It's one thing to read the words "5,000 piece lego Millennium Falcon", but it's a whole other thing to watch all 5,000 pieces go together. Virtual or not, this is totally mind bottling.

I spit my last brick at thee

Uber nerd Trekker Christer Nyberg has built the definitive Lego USS Reliant. You know, the federation ship Kahn spacejacked in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Kahn. It's made from 10-15,000 bricks and has light up features and a working cargo bay.

This is probably my favorite giant Lego space ship I've seen on the web. It probably says more about how much I love Star Trek II than anything else. I swear I slept with my blanket pulled up over my head until I was 13. I was so afraid of those little earworm things getting me while I slept.

KAAAAHHHHNNNNN!

Lego Captain America

A lot of comic book fans got upset when the new/old Captain America, Bucky Barnes, added a gun to Cap's repitoire. Post WWII Cap had a pretty strict no killing policy, so it was certainly a departure for the character.

Of course Lego Captain America has always used a gun. And a knife... seriously, this video gets pretty gruesome pretty quick.

One Lego to rule them all

Here is the first drool worthy look at the Lego Lord of the Rings minifigs. You would think this is a good thing, but it's not. Either I buy these for my son and he won't let me play with them or I buy them for myself and don't let him play with them. I don't really see a middle ground here.

Yipee ki Yay mother legoer

If I had to name my favorite Christmas movie from the 80s I'd go with Gremlins. Of course I've never seen a fake commercial for a knockoff Lego Gremlin playset.

Your move Joe Dante.

A gift for an idiot Megatron

Seriously, how stupid is Megatron? He finds a Kre-O (more on that later) Bumblebee underneath his Christmas tree and he decides the best thing to do is put it together? Why not punch yourself in the nuts? I don't know who looks worse in this video, Megatron for being so stupid or the Autobots for not having killed Megatron yet. Seriously, just Fed-Ex him a giant gun, odds are he'll shoot his own head off.

BTW, have you seen these Kre-O things? I've been to the toy store a lot this Christmas (yet I still haven't bought my kid anything) and the Kre-O transformers toys are everywhere. They're the shasta cola of Legos. They even say on the box "works with the leading brand of blocks". They should change the name of them to Not-Lego.

Christmas List: Lego Ornaments

Every day in December I plan on posting one thing from my official DevilDinosaur Christmas Wish List (patent pending). Why? Because I can.

This weekend we're kicking things off with something a bit more practical, Lego Ornaments! Because my son is a angry toddler beast when he doesn't get a keekoo (cookie), our Christmas Tree is currently ornament free. However, maybe next year we'll get some of these Lego Ornaments.

I wonder if you can get them in Duplo size?

Christmas List: Lego Christmas Tree

Every day in December I plan on posting one thing from my official DevilDinosaur Christmas Wish List (patent pending). Why? Because I can.

First up is this 33 foot tall Lego Christmas Tree. I have one of those cheap fake pre-lit Christmas Trees you get at Home Depot for like $30.00 the day after Christmas. It's only about 4 feet tall, and when you look at it it's branches closely sort of resemble a bunch of green pipe cleaners. This Lego Christmas tree would definitely be a classy upgrade.

Now I'm not sure I can fit a 33ft tall tree in my house. I've never measured my ceilings so for all I know they could be 33ft tall but I figure I can stop just building when I hit ceiling.

Bricks of War

Uber geek and master youtuber Kooberz made this Gears of War Lego stop-motion animation. It's awesome and I'm not just saying that because I felt like burning down my office this afternoon. In fact this videos coolness is hardly related to my shitty day at all. I dare say that I'd enjoy it just as much if I didn't have suppliers breaking my balls all day.

..is it too much to ask for just one chainsaw gun?

"Admiral, I want that ship, not excuses"

When you're talking about Star Destroyers there's the Imperial II class and then there's everybody else. But when you're talking Lego Star Destroyers there's the Venator Class and then there's nobody even close. Uber nerd iomedes has built the most incredible lego Star Destroyer I've ever seen. It's 8 feet long and weighs over 180 pounds. It was built using 43,000 pieces, none of which are glued or screwed together (a common practice when mega-legoing).

This thing is pretty amazing. The size of it is obviously impressive, but the detail in the engines and the gunner ports is really incredible. I can't even imagine taking on a project like this. I wouldn't even know where to start. Once you need to use autocad to put together your lego space ships I'm out.

In fact we picked my kid up a bucket of duplo blocks this last weekend at a garage sale. I built a pretty sweet looking crow out of them. That's where my lego prowess starts and ends.

Lego Middle Earth is Redonkulous

If you thought last weeks Lego Rapture was impressive you haven't seen anything. A group of geeks put their collective Lego skills together and came up with an amazing Lord of the Rings Middle Earth display for Brickworld 2011.

I can't even fathom how they built this thing. You know how long I would have to dig around my lego bin just to find that one piece I needed? You know, that one piece, it was kind of slanty and blue. Man I could never find that stupid thing.

Links are for Kids

The Lego Super Star Destroyer exists. That's the good news, the bad news is it costs $400 and has over 3,000 pieces. I can't afford it and I would never be able to put it together.

Jason Patrick and Lucy Punch will star in Powers TV Show. I'm pumped this show is getting made. Superheroes + procedural crime drama = Win for me.

10 worst answers for the Best show on Television. No one's saying a shows like Workaholiks or Parenthood aren't good shows, but you're an idiot if you think they're the best shows on TV. That's Justified.. or Archer.. or Parks and Rec.. or Community.. or The Walking Dead.. or Ice loves Coco

Emma Stone to star in Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. I'm guessing she plays some sort of hot zombie.

Lego Rapture FTW

Uber nerd and super Lego builder Imagine Rigney built this incredible Bioshock diorama for a recent Brickworld convention. This thing is sweet and very timely for me since I just started playing Bioshock last week. Man that's a great game. It really makes me feel stupid for waiting so long to play it. Other things that make me feel stupid: maps, spellchecker, my dvr, children beating me at COD..

Geekologie has the whole write up plus more pictures.
