Sometimes pumpkins just need to dance

Wow, I have no idea what context this was originally aired but one thing is for sure. The people at KVXO in Omaha really know how to party.

..and yes for you counting at home this is twice I've posted a video that features a cover to the Ghostbusters theme.

The Obligatory Deadpool Post

Hey Kids do you love Deadpool? How about silent P's (and S's)? Well then you're in luck because here comes the Deadpool Corps.

Deadpool editor Axel Alonso has released a teaser image for the upcoming event, the Deadpool Corps! And yes, kids, they will have an oath, and they likely will be scarier than even a pack of your zombified loved ones.

According to the Deadpool Bugle, the event will come together March 2010, featuring Deadpool, Lady Deadpool, Kid Deadpool, Headpool, and Dogpool.

~ David Pepose via the Newsarama Blog

I have all the preview images below. They look pretty sweet. My personal favorite is of the one with Dogpool in it. I don't think you can ever have enough dogs with swords. Unless maybe it's my parents dog, that thing just needs to stay off my couch...

Again with the Lizards?

Well here's the first 8 minutes of the "new" ABC series V. I'm still really on the fence about this one. I think I'm just as desperate as ABC is to replace a lost size whole in my life come fall of 2010 but I'm just not sure a new series based on a pretty schlocky mini series from the 80s is the way to do it.

Still, the only thing I'm watching at 8pm on Tuesdays is 90210 and that has to stop. I mean when will Naomi see how badly her sister is using her? If she doesn't figure it out quick Liam is totally going to move on.

L4D2 looks pretty good

Sweet fancy moses that's a trailer. Sure it has no actual game footage, but who cares? There's zombies and bridges exploding and chainsaws it's like the zombie video game equivalant of a turduckin.

Who ya gonna call?

This is what happens when I've had a bad day. I saw this on Wednesday but was in such a foul mood that I thought to myself "god that's stupid, no one's ever going to want to watch that" then 2 days later Boom internet tested, internet approved.

Oh well back to the point, here's some guy that looks like that guy singing the ghostbusters theme.

Didn't we come here on a Cheetah?

It seems every week I see a story that confirms my belief that science is out to kill us. Whether it's Zombies, Robots or Robot Zombies they're always working on something that's just one random lighting bolt or radioactive spider away from killing everyone. This week it's Robot Cheetahs.
Professor Sangbae Kim designer of the Stickybot and a Robotic designer at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Is trying to understand how he can replicate natural animal mechanisms by creating a robot inspired by the cheetah.

The idea is to build a prototype robot from a construction of lightweight carbon-fiber-foam that will then be able to match the cheetah's speed of 70 miles per hour.

~ via geekologie
When Skynet takes over how am I supposed to get away from a 70 mph carbon fiber cheetah? When building robots scientists need to start using the same criteria I have for adopting pets. Never own a pet you can't take in a fight and never build a robot you can't easily smash with a hammer. Think of all the trouble that would have saved Hank Pym.

Not Now Lolcat

The fact that I find these stupid Internet Commenter Business Meeting videos so funny probably means I'm spending way to much time on the internet.

The Legend of Neil

Legend of Neil, Season 1, Ep. 1 -- The Beginning

Yeah I know this is over a year old which in internet years is like a thousand but I had to post this. I was having steaks with some friends the other night and I tried to describe the greatness that is The Legend of Neil. I think I got as far as "masturbating to the fairy in Zelda" when my credibility on all things ever was shot to hell.

Now he can read real fast he is good at science and math

Black doctor has quickly become the new meme at my work, so I thought I'd share since there is NOTHING happening on the 'net today.

The Simpsons: An Uncensored, Unauthorized History. Pre-review

As a rule I don't read a lot of books that don't star teenage wizards or vampires hooking up with teenagers. However I'm ready to make an exception with The Simpsons: An Uncensored, Unauthorized History.

From all the reviews I've read (that would be 3) it sounds like writer John Ortved has crafted a very insightful book that's a must read for all Simpsons superfans. Quite a feat considering that James Brooks, Matt Groening and most everyone at Fox refused to participate when they heard what Ortved was writing. The following is a small excerpt about the resistance Ortved ran into when he wrote a small article for Vanity Fair that turned out to be the precursor to the book... I totally lifted it from WarmingGlow

Fox tried to get me to write a different story, “How about,” one flack told me, “you do a history of how The Simpsons Movie came to be,” adding that this was something they could get on board with.. I declined this very generous offer and continued to work on the story, resulting in some hilarious calls from Fox publicity, with them informing me “There is no Simpsons story in Vanity Fair. We said ‘no’!”

Something I gleaned early from this experience is that Hollywood publicists are so used to journalists kowtowing to their every request that they no longer understand what journalism actually is. We’re talking about cartoon characters here, not Watergate, but the light subject matter doesn’t exclude the possibility of doing real research and telling interesting stories. They actually thought that we were all on the same team, trying to get their client the maximum exposure, using our words and outlets only to extend their message.

Again from what I've read about the book it isn't perfect. Ortved has to use a lot of old published quotes from the people that refused to participate making the narrative a bit one sided. He also spends a bit to much time harping on how the series sucks now, which is a given at this point. Still I can't go more than an hour without using a quote from The Simpsons, so I think I'll be adding this to the top of my reading list (sorry Edward, you'll have to wait).

The Deadpool reboot part 37

I think my new deal is that whenever there's nothing interesting happening on the interwebs (no, balloon boy doesn't count anymore) I'm just going to try and find more news on the Deadpool movie. This is from X-Men movie franchise producer Lauren Shuler Donner
I want to ignore the version of Deadpool that we saw in Wolverine and just start over again. Reboot it. Because this guy talks, obviously, and to muzzle him would be insane... We're right in the thick of talking to writers right now, and hopefully by November we'll have decided who's going to do it. We need someone really imaginative because we want to do some really innovative, ambitious stuff. Ryan's mentioned this in an interview already but there are parts where he's going to break the fourth wall and talk directly to the audience in the cinema. We have to work out how to do that. I don't know that Fox will agree with all our decisions, but we'll see!

~ via

This sounds great right up to that last sentence. Knowing Fox they'll hire Brett Ratner's nacho delivery boy to direct and insist on turning Deadpool into a robot that transforms into a Jonas brother.

I'm dead right now I guess

I've said this once before, but college kids that like to play zombie are going to be the first ones to die when the real zombies attack. That is unless we're attacked by a rare breed of zombie vulnerable to Nerf and Weezer albums.

My favorite part of this is the "zomie hunter" that bites it trying to run down a set of stairs near the 1:20 mark.

The Expendables, the trailer

Well here it is the first trailer for The Expendables. Looks like it took all of 3 hours before it got pulled from youtube. Here's hoping our European friends over at dailymotion have better luck keeping this up.

Just a quick reminder in case you're late to the party. The Expendables is written by Stallone. Directed by Stallone. Starring Stallone, Jason Statham, Mickey Rourke, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Danny Trejo, Eric Roberts, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Randy Coutoure and is reported to have a cameo by The Governator. So basically It's one Steven Seagal short of being a time machine to 1989.

Well that's not good for business

they don't make enough side-curtain airbags to save you from this

US Men's national team diaper dandy Charlie Davies was in a serious car accident this morning.

Charlie Davies was in the area with the team for a World Cup qualifier, reported. He was in stable condition following surgery Tuesday afternoon. Though his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, they could possibly be career-threatening, a U.S. Soccer Federation spokesman told The Washington Post.

U.S. Park Police are investigating the crash on the southbound lanes of the George Washington Parkway at Boundary Channel Drive, just south of the Memorial Bridge, that broke an SUV in half.

The accident happened at approximately 3:15 a.m. Police spokesman Sgt. David Schlosser told News4 that it looks like the SUV struck the metal railing of the bridge that carries the parkway over Boundary Channel Drive.

One person died in the accident and a couple more were injured. We'll have to wait and see what really happened here and what impact this has on Davies and the rest of the Nats.

Nothing good happens at 3 in the morning and I know it's total conjecture on my part but I'm afraid Davies may have made some real bad decisions here. Hopefully I'm proven wrong.

Update! more on his injuries from the USSF
Davies suffered a lacerated bladder and fractures to the tibia and femur bones in his right leg. He also suffered facial fractures and a left elbow fracture. Davies was air-lifted to the hospital where a team of doctors first repaired a ruptured bladder and then inserted titanium rods in both the tibia, the bone in the lower leg, and the femur, which is the thigh bone, with no complications. Davies will be hospitalized for at least a week and additional surgeries will be required to stabilize his left elbow fracture and possibly the facial fractures.

“Injuries of this nature usually require a recovery period of six to 12 months and extensive rehabilitation,” said U.S. Soccer physician Dr. Dan Kalbac, who is with the team in D.C. and collaborated with the treating doctors. ”Due to Charlie’s fitness level, his prognosis for recovery and his ability to resume high-level competition is substantially improved.”

Now that's a Red Card!

Any soccer video that ends with a team of girls being chased of the field and through the streets of the home team is gold in my book.

My favorite part is that at least two girls take off their shoes and use them as weapons. Now that's thinking outside the box!

Cubs Win! Cubs Win!

Currently there are 2 things in life that truly befuddle me. The first is how on earth Conner Casey scores two clinch goals to secure Los Gringos 6th straight trip to the world cup. I mean it's Conner Freaking Casey! I'm surprised he found the effort to get off the team bus and make it into the stadium (although I imagine a hot dog cart may have been involved). The second thing is how this game wasn't on ESPN.. or Fox Sports... or Tellemundo.. or Canal UHF-62. I didn't even know closed circuit view still existed.

Anyway here are the highlights..

Carl's back!

And speaking of Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Carl is back with his lock of the century! of the week!

Star Wars Pumpkins of course

To help get you in a Halloweeny mood here's some super badass star wars pumpkins. has a bunch more.

Last year I totally got screwed in the Pumpkin carving contest I entered. I carved a pumpkin that looked exactally like Master Shake from Aqua Teen Hunger Force. The problem was that no one in the room had ever heard of the show. There's a fun nerd moment for you. Try to explain that cartoon to someone. " see the box of fries is their leader, he's the smart one.."

The Flash, the Video Game

If the Flash wasn't one of my favorite comic characters I don't think I'd really bother showing you early development footage from a company that closed up shop earlier this year. Or maybe I would, as rough as it looks it still looks like hella fun. Kind of a cross between sonic and grand theft auto. I'll cross my fingers and hope some other studio picks up where Brash Entertainment left off. If not maybe some studio will finally listen to my pitch for Carl Douglas' Kung Fu Fighting Extravaganza. It's part one Rock Band, one part Shenmue, all parts awesome.

Big Poppa Pump is your hook up.. for bad wrestling

You know what's better than really good pro-wrestling? Really bad pro-wrestling. And with that in mind may I introduce you to Botchamania. I know it's a long clip, but the part where Scott Stiener falls while trying to kick HHH is pretty awesome.

Thanks to Jimmy (who is as handsome as he is polite) for sending me this.

Death Troopers, the Novel, the Trailer

I've said this here before, more books should have video trailers. I'm a busy man and if you can't sum up your novel in a 60 second youtube clip then forget it. Yeah I'm looking at you Dostoevsky.

The future is now, and it has a cheezy youtube video

You really never know when or how the world is going to come to an end, so it's best to be prepared for every possible scenario. From Zombies and Robot Uprisings to Y2K you can never be to prepared. One very real scenario that hardly gets any mention in the press these days is Waterworld. Just because the Kevin Costner movie was almost unwatchable doesn't make it any less of a possibility, what with all the global warming going on these days.

It's with that watersoaked, eyepatch wearing future in mind that I bring you the WaterCar! Whether you're looking to escape from jet-skiing pirates or pick up tramps at Lake Havasu the WaterCar has you covered.

You have a page suggestion

Even though I use it all the time, I'll be the first to admit Facebook is pretty stupid. Sure it's a nice way to keep in touch with old friends and stalk your ex's but it's also a collosal waste of time. I don't think they make a caluclator that can add together the number of hours I've wasted playing Scramble and Word Twist.

Anyway posted some pretty sweet fake superhero facebook status thingys. I posted my favorites but they have a bunch more. If you can manage to pry yourself away from Maffia Wars and Farmville for a couple minutes check them out.

Iron Man gets an upgrade

The Invincible Iron Man (the comic not the character) is getting a new look. has has posted a couple previews of the new design and I've got to say I'm impressed. Compare the new look with the proposed alternate cover by Patrick Zircher (it's below along with a look at Issue #21's cover) and it's easy to see the new look is light years ahead of the old one. I'm not sure that this will get all those tweens to put down their copies of Twilight and pick up a comic but it's definitely a step in the right direction.

Throw it on the ground

Well you're going to see this pretty much everywhere on the internet today. You might as well watch it here.

There's no way that's safe

It hasn't been on the news a whole bunch, what with 24 hour Obamacare and John minus 9 coverage, but earlier this week Typhoon Ketsana wrecked shop all over the Phillippines.
About a week ago, Typhoon Ketsana (known in the Phillippines as "Ondoy") made landfall, and according to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), Ketsana dropped 455 mm (17.9 in) of rain on Metro Manila in a span of 24 hours on Saturday - the most in 42 years. A month's worth of rainfall in a single day washed away homes and flooded large areas, stranding thousands on rooftops in the city and elsewhere. Ketsana later crossed over to Vietnam and Cambodia, where it is still active. Over 360 people are known to have been killed, and damage estimates are reaching $100 million.

The pictures the boston globe had of the aftermath were incredible, so I posted a few of them here and you can make donations (if you feel so inclined) to the red cross here.

The Lego Death Star is quite possibly the most beautiful toy I have ever seen. It lists for $399 but considering it's size and everything it comes with is kind of a deal. At least that's how I'm going to try and sell the idea to my wife.

Here's the quick rundown off all that's included:

•Includes 24 minifigures and droids, plus all-new Dianoga™ trash compactor monster!
•Includes 6 new and exclusive minifigures and droids only found in this set: Luke Skywalker™ (Stormtrooper™ outfit), Han Solo™ (Stormtrooper outfit), Assassin Droid™, Interrogation Droid, Death Star Droid and 2 Death Star Troopers™!
•Also includes Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Obi-Wan Kenobi™, C-3PO™, R2-D2™, Princess Leia™, Chewbacca™, Luke Skywalker (Jedi Knight), Darth Vader™, Grand Moff Tarkin™, Emperor Palpatine™, 2 Stormtroopers, 2 Emperor's Royal Guards™, R2-Q5™, and mouse droid!.
•Movie-authentic Death Star environments include the Superlaser control room and target monitor, Imperial conference chamber, TIE Advanced hangar bay with moving launch rack, Emperor's throne room, droid maintenance room, detention block, trash compactor, and much more!
•Rescue Princess Leia from the detention block cell, then escape through the secret hatch to the trash compactor below!
•Reenact the final duel between Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader in the Emperor's Throne Room!
