Public Links

Goddesses, Politics And Porn: When Public Access TV Ruled Seattle. I'm not sure I'd say Public Access TV every really Ruled Seattle but it was definitely a large part of the local culture. Now a days things like youtube and reddit have pretty much destroyed any interest in Public Access TV but back in the 80s and 90s if you were a crackpot with a flair for entertaining it was the place to be.

Movie trivia. This is a short but sweet collection of Movie Trivia. I'm not surprised at all that Arnold would throw himself into the role of the Terminator. I'll bet when he got the part of Conan he spent months fighting real snake sorcerers.

What Do Indie Musicians Really Think About Music Streaming? Hey look it's MC Lars (and some other goofs) talking about Spotify. He once retweeted me, so yeah. I'm kind of a big deal.

The mortifying, terrifying Windows promo videos of years past. OMG my friends OMG.

But as far as Window 10 goes I've heard a lot of good things. I mean I hear it's buggy as hell right now but most people like the new interface and features. My desktop/crappy gaming rig needs a new HD, so I might shoot for a completely fresh install in a few months when I can afford a new HD AND when most of the major bugs have been worked out.

Lego Dimensions: World Collide

Here's a new trailer for that cool new Lego game that I'm probably not going to be able to afford to buy my son because there was a giant puddle of water on the floor in my garage this morning that is definitely coming from the drain pipes from the upstairs bathroom.

Have you seen how much plumbers charge? Either Christmas is canceled or we're all going to start taking showers in a bucket.

Attack on Titan Trailer

The very successful Anime & Manga, Attack on Titan, has a really cool looking live action movie coming out soon. It's Japanese, not a Hollywood remake so it has a chance of actually being pretty cool. If you can handle subtitles that is. And find a theater in the states playing it. Or I don't know.. wait until it comes to Netflix in 3 years.

Reading Links

‘Reading Rainbow’ Is Officially Headed For Netflix. Hey Reading Rainbow is coming to netflix! I have no idea if this is the new kickstarter backed Reading Rainbow or if it's the original show from PBS. Either way it's cool to see it on netflix.

Inside the Ghost Ships of the Mothball Fleet. This is a super old blog post but it's only recently been brought to my attention and it's cool as hell. A couple crazy kids broke into one of the Mothball Fleets where the military stores their decommissioned ships. The pictures they got are really amazing. Stealth Boat for the Win.

Adam Sandler Has Never Ruined A Movie As Much As He Ruins Pixels. Man alive I dodged a bullet here. My son has been ALL OVER Pixels. When is Pixels coming out? When can we see Pixels? What's up with Pixels? It's been nonstop for like 3 weeks. Thank goodness it tanked this weekend and all the ads for it have simply vanished. Hopefully out of sight = out of mind.

The official/unofficial Hulk Hogan racist timeline. Just in case you've heard about the Hulk Hogan thing but you still don't know what actually happened and why, this reddit post has a pretty good breakdown on what happened and when. The phrase "Never meet your heroes" seems like it was made for Hulk Hogan. "Eat your vitamins and say your prayers kids and one day you can convince your friends to let you bang their wife while they film it!"

That's Where They Get You

The Worlds Longest Water Slide is BORING

Our good friends at Action Park have put together the "worlds longest water slide". It also kind of looks like the dirtiest. What is that irrigation water they're using? Why is it rust colored. Did someone poop on the slide? Anyway, it's about half a mile long and honestly it looks kind of boring. You're like WOOOOOO for the first 20 seconds then WOOoooo for the next 30, then woooo for the final 30. They should have included some wipeout style events during the slide. Like halfway through you just get pounded by some big balls.

nope, not changing that phrasing...

Electra Woman and Dyna Girl Trailer

Hey old kids, remember Electra Woman and Dyna Girl? Well they're back, this time in web series form. It looks like it might be kinda cool. I mean I like Grace Helbig and all so I'll check it out. I'm a bit disappointed that there's going to be a bunch of swears in it. I thought this would be a fun show to watch with the kiddos. Oh well.

Inside the Black Box 5: Nintendo Zapper

Have you ever wondered "Why does my Nintendo Zapper gun not work on my fancy new plasma TV!"? Do you have almost a half hour to kill watching someone dismantle a Nintendo Zapper gun? Well then my friend are you in luck.

I know this video is hella long but I thought it was really interesting. Do what I did put it on while you eat your cereal and check your quotes in the morning. Gotta get the quotes, love a good quote.

It's Always Links

It’s Always Sunny In Minelandia: Movie Director Announced. This one really came out of left field. I understand that Rob McElhenny has been doing a great job directing episodes of It's Always Sunny but to go from that to what I assume will be a pretty big tentpole film is a pretty big leap. Here's hoping they sneak a rum ham in there somewhere.

Hot Toys Is Making a Sixth-Scale Millennium Falcon That's 18-Feet Long. I'm sure this will never be for sale but I don't care I want it. Hot Toys already makes remarkably accurate figurines imagine what they can do on this large of a scale? I wouldn't be surprised if it has functioning blasters and a holographic chess game.

There Was Nothing in the World Like Action Park. I LOVE stories about Action Park and this is probably as comprehensive of a run down on old "Traction Park" as you're going to get. Man I really wish I could have ridden that looping water slide, just look at that thing. It's as beautiful as it is terrifying.

What 10 Hours Of Walking At Comic-Con As A Female Cosplayer Looks Like. Welp, this is pretty depressing. Go ahead and watch the video or read the article, maybe do both. I don't know how much free time you have.

First off, Yes. If you are going to go dressed up to a Con dressed in a provocative manner you're going to get attention. That's man or woman. Boobs or Butt cheeks. Abs or Flabs. 36 Double D's or a 36 foot long foam sword. But attention shouldn't equal harassment.

Believe it or not you can ask to have your picture taken with someone in a sexy outfit without acting like a complete sleeze-douche.

The Force is Strong With These Squirrels

Here's some squirrels playing with lightsabers. Someone told me the lightsabers were all added by computers but I'm not sure about that. Squirrels are crazy clever. If they can get into those squirrel proof bird feeders how hard is it to put together a light saber? Luke was able to do it and he grew up on a dirt farm....

Also these are chipmunks... This isn't really my best work, that whole clever squirrel thing was a reach, and the payoff is a joke about Luke on a dirt farm? It was a moisture farm, that's like the exact opposite of a dirt farm. Whatever, they all can't be winners.

San Diego Comic-Con Cosplay: Now with Pictures!

Hey kiddos, you want cosplay pictures from the big 2015 San Diego Comic-Con? Well it just so happens that I have cosplay pictures from the 2015 San Diego Comic Con. Also know as SDCC. Also known as lets hit all the keywords we can. I'll even throw in a couple adjectives just to make sure we have googles image search dialed in right. Sexy, Hot, unbelievable, geeky, hilarious, funny... umm I already said "hot" right? How about Sexy-Hot? How does that sound google image search? Sexy-Hot is just how you like it, right?

Holy cow that really got away from me there. As expected this year's SDCC had a lot of cool an imaginative cosplay. Here's some of my favorites, or at least some of my favorites that didn't have watermarks on them.

yeah, like I'm not going to start off with Slave Elsa?

and now a little something for the ladies...

At first glance this is an amazing Buddy Christ cosplay. THEN you see the steampunk elements.

"Then who's vice president? Jerry Lewis?"

99% sure that's a real Aquabat in the middle

"Hey Carol, one more thing. Kick its ass."

She can read your thoughts, run!

The Red Hood is always looking for deals on prints. 2 for $30?

she sounds hideous

I don't even know what this is but it looks cool. Is it a Diablo?

Call me, we'll work something out with my wife.

If you look close that "S" is all jacked up. I'll be you weren't looking that close.

Another new No Man's Sky Trailer

I've been beating the No Man's Sky drum as hard as I can for a old guy with kids that doesn't really have time to play video games that don't start with the word Lego or Skylanders anymore. I don't know what it is, the graphics, the promise of endless exploration, the dinosaurs? That's right, this video shows freaking dinosaurs. If this game even has an ounce of coherent plot it's going to sweep the DevilDinosaur (ie The Dineys) game of the year awards.

K.Flay: Can't Sleep

This song and video from K.Flay pretty much captures my weekend (minus the drop crotch pants). It has been hot as balls in my house and I can't sleep at all. I'm one of those people that likes to sleep under a ton of heavy covers so trying to sleep without any has led to some pretty restless nights. My son is still sleeping under all his blankets and his room is even hotter than ours, I don't know how he does it. He must be part iguana.

THE San Diego Comic-Con Cosplay Video

Now we're talking. Sneaky Zebra always does the best cosplay videos. This one from 2015 SDCC looks pretty fantastic. I like that they've included a few cool things from the show floor this year. I still haven't found a good youtube show that's short and punchy but adequately highlights some of the cooler stuff from the floor. Mostly it's just a rehash of panels. If you see one drop me a line.

X-Men: Apocalypse first pics... kind of

The Latest issue of Entertainment Weekly has some of the first pictures (if you don't count bootleg Comic-Con footage) from X-Men: Apocalypse. It looks good? I don't know. I'm pretty sure you could stick Olivia Munn in a burlap sack and she'd still look pretty attractive. I like Magneto's new armor/outfit but Apocalypse looks kinda doofy to me. I've already read multiple references to the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Villain Ivan Ooze.

The last couple X-Men movies have been pretty enjoyable so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. I mean it's not like this looks like the dumpster fire that the new Fantastic Four movie has become.

The Lexus of Hoverboards?

Lexus may have just invented the hoverboard, or at least the first functional one. The details are still a bit sketchy but they claim they have made a breakthrough in cooling and magnetry that allows this hoverboard to actually work like a hoverboard (as long as you're on a metal surface). Even with that limitation I could see this being really fun that is until the first time you try and carve a turn and you learn how a frictionless travel works and you break your ankles. Fun times!

New Batman v Superman Trailer... kind of

Is it weird that we live in a world where the porn parody of Superman v Batman has infinitely better special effects than Superman II?

These porn parodies always seem to get a lot of attention when they're released. I've heard quite a few nerds actually defend them as fan films, saying they're more true to the costumes and characters than the official movies are. A while ago I saw one (the Avengers) with all of the sex cut out ( I think it was on DailyMotion.com) and it was TERRIBLE. Minus the crotch zippers, the costumes actually looked cool but the dialogue and acting was exactly what you would expect. It also made zero sense, I'm guessing the sex scenes contained more plot than you would imagine.

Also Axel Braun kind of sounds like a tub and tile cleaner.

2015 San Diego Comic-Con Cosplay!

Hey there, the fine people over at io9.com put up a video highlighting some of the "best" cosplay from 2015 San Diego Comic-Con. My guess is that this won't be the first of these videos I post, that's why I put the best in quotes. I'll bet that other youtube outfit I usually post that uses the fancy slow mo will outdo them. Stil, there are good lots of good costumes here. The guy with the Doc Brown costume is particularly awesome.

Dear Links

Why the “Future of Women in Comics” Thinks It Helps to Be Terrifying. Kelly Sue Deconnick (not in costume) is one of my more favorite comic book writers right now. Not really based on her run on Captain Marvel (which I liked but didn't love) but because of two of her other books Bitch Planet and Pretty Deadly. Pretty Deadly being one of the raddest books I've read in a LONG time. I met her once at ECCC and she was SO COOL.

Anyway, it's cool to see her and the issue of women in comics get some big mainstream press like this.

Hollywood is missing the one thing that makes Superman great. Man, this times a thousand. I hate that people somehow think that Superman isn't interesting or relatable. The best Superman stories are inspiring and uplifting, it's kind of like Star Trek at the end of the story you should feel better about the human condition not worse.

From Tomato Cans To Mike Tyson: The Definitive ‘Punch-Out!!’ Fighter Power Rankings. Man I LOVED Mike Tyson's punch out (and it's arcade brother Punch Out) but I was terrible at them. I don't think I ever made it past Bald Bull, heck in the arcade I don't think I ever made it past Don Flamenco. Still good times were had.

Dear Idiots, Stop Leaking Comic-Con Trailers. Ugh... this guy. Where to start? First off the idea that somehow Comic-Con would be worse off if the big movie studios decided to come is arrogant and short-sighted. That actually sounds great to me and a lot of people that you know... actually read comics. If you read any of the coverage leading up to Comic-Con you might have seen that one of the big stories was that Marvel decided to skip Comic-Con altogether this year. Actually, MARVEL STUDIOS skipped Comic-Con. Marvel was there with lots of new comic books to show off. It's frustrating for this old school nerd to see people treat movies as the final destination for comic books, like each book is just a pitch for a movie or tv show.

But I digress, this guy can get bent and so can all the studios that believe they can show a couple thousand people some hotly anticipated footage without having someone record it. They literally live-stream the panels over the internet but then when it comes time to show 2 minutes of footage that's supposed to stay in San Diego? If you're showing footage at Comic-Con you should be prepared to post it to youtube immediately. Otherwise just don't show footage, the crowd will still clap and get happy when you trot out Ryan Reynolds for a little Q&A.

Suicide Squad Trailer!

Well this is a weird turn of events. Just hours after DC was pretty adamant that they weren't going to be releasing the Suicide Squad teaser they showed at Comic-Con this year DC has done just that. It's almost like they realized people were watching the bootleg version anyway so what was the point of holding out on the official HD release. Way to be effective marketers DC.

Anyhoo, the trailer looks cool. I like this one WAY more than I do Superman v Batman.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens Comic-Con Reel

Disney is rarely one to be left out of a party so at Comic-Con this weekend they showed off some new behind the scenes footage from Star Wars: The Force Awakens. There's a lot to like in it but what I love the most is how they go overboard emphasizing that they're shooting on location, with all these practical effects on film. I'm surprised JJ Abrams doesn't end the video by kicking George Lucas's dog. You know this is killing him, right?

Ash vs Evil Dead (SQUEEEE)

Holy Shit you guys. The trailer for Ash vs Evil Dead hit the interwebs this weekend after it debuted at Comic-Con. It looks AWESOME. Bruce Campbell is the best (per usual), there's tons of gore, Sam Raimi is actually directing the first episode... I just can't handle it all. Someone wake me when it's Halloween.

Stop My Vacation, There's a New Walking Dead Season 6 Trailer

Hey kiddos, I'm back from sunny Monterrey California. Where I partook in such fantastic adventures as swimming in the ocean, riding one of those goofy 4 person bikes and going to the Aquarium. Fun was had by all.

I'm glad I'm back, looks like there will be plenty from this years big ol San Diego Comic-Con to blog about. Expect nothing less that really slow coverage of an event already saturated by nerds like me blabbing about it on their blogs and websites. I might even get in a cosplay showcase or two. Anyway, glad to be back and CHEESE AND CRACKERS this trailer for the next Season of the Walking Dead looks awesome.

Batman vs The Joker (in toy form)

Why is it that I feel like this 5 minute stop motion animated film is going to be better than the new Batman v Superman movie? Prove me wrong DC.

10 Misconceptions About Gamers

This video about the top 10 misconceptions about gamers is pretty interesting but I don't really know who the target audience is. Pretty much anyone under the age of 40 plays some sort of video game, from Call of Duty to Candy Crush. I can't imagine the people who are looking up lists about video gamers need to really be talked into the value of video games.

I guess this is for your mom the next time she asks why you spend so much time playing on the Nintendo.

Ultimate Frisbee Highlights?

When I sat down to start this blog there were 3 things I really wanted to cover. Cosplay, Movie Trailers and Ultimate Frisbee. I have no idea why it took so long for me to get to the Ultimate Frisbee highlights.

This is definitely one of the coolest videos I've seen today of some weird sport I don't really care about. It's all downhill from here for that guy. In 10 years he'll be chatting up ladies in a bar: "yeah, you might know me from that amazing Ultimate Frisbee video you saw on youtube in the summer of 2015, I'm kind of a big deal".

Groovy Baby

Hey, here's a reminder that this fall we're getting an Evil Dead TV show on stars. I can't tell you how excited I am to torrent this thing. I mean I love me some Bruce Campbell but there's no way I'm actually subscribing to Stars.

Bring it on Japan

A bunch of crazy nerds built this huge fighting robot and have challenged Japan to a fight. It is awesome and kind of makes that Battle Bots reboot look like clown shoes. Giant Robots representing each nation in a huge tournament to the death is a thing I demand happen asap.
