Monday Morning Link o' rama

Dan Harmon out as Community showrunner. As a nerd I know I'm supposed to be all doom and gloom about this announcement but I'm having a hard time getting that worked up about it. I know Dan Harmon created the show, but its not like Matt Groening wrote the monorail episode or anything. Who knows, maybe Community will be just as good. It's not like they fired Joel McHale.

Did You Know Gaming is the new hotness. This new tumblr is fantastic, it's full of obscure nerdy facts about video games. There's a particular fact about the Koopas in Super Mario Bros. that I find absolutely horrifying.

So Community was pretty good last night

Last night was probably the last time you'll see community on NBC. I guess if you're going to go out, it's best to go out on a high. Seriously, it was maybe the best single episode of a show I've seen since Bobby Hill got Gout. If you missed it get to the Hulus.

Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice!

Here's why the internet loves Communnity so much. After having a main character say the word "Beetlejuice" 3 times over the span of 3 seasons Beetlejuice was finally summoned. And by summoned I mean he appeared in the background of a scene for like a split second. It's equal parts pointless, random and awesome.

True, It's not the kind of layered wordsmithing you get on a show the caliber of Whitney or Two Broke Girls. Still, it's not bad for a show that is getting beat in the ratings by reruns of Wings.

well this is unexpected

Donald Glover of Community fame has a hip-hop alter-ego (don't we all?) named Childish Gambino. Here's the video for his first single (do they still call them that?) Bonfire.

I gotsta tell ya, when I heard Donald Glover and Childish Gambino this is not what I expected. It's like all dark and stuff and he sounds kinda like Blueprint. I liked it a lot more the second time I heard it, I think the first time I was expecting him to rap in basic spanish and for Abed to pop up. It might be worth a torrent.

The producers of Community have a good sense of humor

I mentioned a couple weeks ago how everyone on Community kinda got screwed out of the Emmys, what with the new rules that you have to nominate every actor that's ever appeared on Modern Family. Plus all those shows on showtime that aren't really comedy's, or you know Glee. Which is a comedy in the same way that Hitler was an artist.

Now where was I? Oh yeah, gleeks are like the Hitler Youth. I think that was my point. Honestly I'm still really high on muscle relaxers. It's hard to focus what with all these marshmallows following around all the time.

Community writers are on another level

On last weeks Community (which if you don't watch you're stupid) Abed showed up at the end and was all “not much” when one of the characters asked him what he’d been up to. Well That wasn't entirely true, Abed has his own storyline playing out in the background of certain scenes during the show. I only noticed part of it when I saw it the first time. The YouTube clip above has the whole thing edited down.

How is this show getting beat by Big Bang Theory in the ratings every week? It's cause Americans are stupid right?
