Google Glass makes you Tony Stark Robocop

This video of Google Glass in action popped up on my facebook page several times this morning, with good reason. It's a fantastic commercial. Of course that means I have to hate it, right?

Ok, maybe hate is a strong word but I'm not %100 sure this is a product that most people want or need. Every feature they show off seems either impractical, dangerous or redundant if you already have a smart phone or HD Go Pro. For example, the GPS while riding a bike seems like a horrible accident waiting to happen. Also looking up jellyfish on google to learn more about them even though you are at an aquarium where I suspect there is plenty of available material on the subject of jellyfish feels like the most Apple thing of all time (I mean that in the worst way possible of course). Plus as everyone knows, glasses are for nerds. NERDS!

I'm not poo-pooing the idea of google glass completely. I imagine it would be really useful while say I was working on my car, or maybe while doing touristy things on vacation. It's just hard for me to imagine a scenario where people are going to pony up $1,000 en masse so they can look up pictures of lol cats at work.

Treasure Links

The Star Wars Saga: Suggested Viewing order. I've been dwelling on this ever since my son was born. The absolute best order to watch all 6 movies is IV, V, I, II, III, VI. The writer of this particular article suggest that you can eliminate Episode I all together, but If I had to cut out one movie it would be Episode II. It WAY WAY worse than Episode I, it might have more important plot details, but it's not worth it. Just look it up on wikipedia and move along to Episode III.

If Android is a "stolen product" than so is the iPhone. I'll give this to Steve Jobs, he had giant balls. After years of ripping off other companie's ideas he vows to destroy Google over their theft of the iPhone?

PT boat for sale. You guys had better start clicking on those ads. I need a million dollars to buy a Patrol Torpedo boat.

Is the Ark really buried on a small Canadian island? A great read on the treasure pit at Oak Island. Man what I wouldn't give to find a treasure pit in my back yard. Maybe I should just start digging and see what I find.

Boo, links

Stephen Speilberg blames George Lucas for Indy 4 being awful. My favorite part about this is that Speilberg says it was Lucas' idea to use space aliens which of course "ruined" the movie. However it was Speilberg's idea to have Indy survive a nuclear explosion in a refrigerator. How about we just say it was a team effort?

Yes Google Stole from Apple, and it's a good thing. I can't believe Jobs had the balls to sue google for stealing from Apple given how much IP Apple has stolen. The best part of the article is the apple freaks in the comments section that can't help but defend the double standard.

Real World Star sues MTV. Tanya, who has always been one of my favorite Challenge veterans, claims that a Kenny and Evan sexually assaulted her with a toothbrush. I'm not sure which is worse, the allegation or discovering that MTV actually has a "rape clause" in their contracts.

Patton Oswalt narrates a reality star's trip to the pumpkin patch. I have no idea who he's ripping on but it's highlarious none the less.

Politican confused by the googles

"I'll box the gay out of ya"

Ever google your own name? I do it all the time, there are a couple other Kevin Newburn's out there and I like knowing that my web presence dominates them. Of course I have the luxury of having a relatively unique name, it's easily googlable.

Also my name isn't synonymous with a gross byproduct of doin' it sodom style, which leads us to Presidential candidate Rick Santorum. Take it away dailywhat:

Virulently anti-gay GOP presidential candidate Rick Santorum, who once told the Associated Press that his problem lies not with homosexuals but “with homosexual acts,” told Politico he has contacted Google to ask that they remove links to sites that define his last name as “the frothy mixture of lube and fecal matter that is sometimes the byproduct of anal sex.”

A campaign led by sex columnist Dan Savage, launched in the aftermath of the homophobic comment noted above (he's actually said way worse, ed.), resulted in the construction of the neologism, which has since climbed to the top of Google’s search results for the former Senator’s name both organically, and through google bombing techniques.

“I suspect if something was up there like that about Joe Biden, they’d get rid of it,” Santorum is quoted as saying. “If you’re a responsible business, you don’t let things like that happen in your business that have an impact on the country.”

~thedailywhat
Google responded to Santorum with a corporate shoulder shrug. They recommended that if he's upset with what he sees on the web he should go after the websites not the search engine. I wish him lots of luck with that. Trying to Censor the Internet usually works out pretty well for people.

George is getting a Google Wallet

Since I'm over 30 the idea of replacing my wallet with my phone scares the shit out of me. What happens when your battery dies and you don't realize it until you're in line at the piggly wiggly? Or heaven forbid you "accidentally" download one of those nudie girl apps and android freezes before you even get past the unlock screen, what then?

On the other hand the idea of selling products using clips of Seinfeld episodes is very appealing to me. I'm pretty sure I'd buy a dozen shamwows if George was trying to sell more of them than Lloyd Braun.

Serenity now!

Free Pac Man!

Yeah I know, there's like a thousand flash based sites that let you play pac-man for free but how many of them also let you surf for porn? Really, that many? Oh well, go to the google homepage anyway and get your pac-man on.
