2012, the mediocrity is strong with this blog

It's almost January 1st and that means year end recap time. I feel like 2012 was the year I hit my blogging stride. Page views per day are up from under 100 to over 500 and I've getting way more spam bots posting comments so I must be doing something right.

Without further ado here are the 10 most popular posts of the year (which in the end is completely meaningless given that the front page is still the single most popular destination and I almost never use click-throughs).

For whatever reason (cough Diora Baird picture cough) the recap of 2011 was the most popular post of 2012. That's why I wanted to get this years recap out of the way before we rolled into January.

Speculation on the next generation of video game consoles was big this year. Two posts about the Xbox 361 and Playstation 3.2 were in my top ten. Next year I predict made up news about the Dreamcast 2 will dominate the top ten.

.. The Blurst of Times: The Choice. If you haven't got it yet, The Blurst of Times is a reference to a Simpsons episode where Mr Burns hires a thousand monkeys on a thousand type writers to write the greatest novel ever written. I know, a blogger who uses random Simpsons quotes, I'm clearly one in a million.

Summer Glau and hover hands at comic-con. If there was ever one image that sums up the entirety of my 4 years of blogging I think it might be this one.

NFL replacement refs are not good enough for the LFL. I'm pretty sure DevilDinosaur.com is the premier place for hard hitting Crotch Gout and Lingerie Football news. If it isn't, well there's always next year.

The oral history of Baywatch. If you missed it the first time you have to check it out the second time. Also this is a good time to reflect on that week that Donna D'Errico hosted Talk Soup. That was a pretty good week.

Harley Quinn's butt. Arkham City was easily the best game I played in 2012 so even though the Harley Quinn DLC was pretty poor, I'm glad something related to the game made it into the top 10.

Say goodbye to Power Girls boob window. This year was a weird year in comic book fandom. You saw a real explosion of attractive women embracing their inner geek with sexy cosplay juxtaposed with a movement to clean up what's seen as pervy art in comics. Personally I feel like if you're not cosplaying or drawing comics you should just shut your trap and let the artistically inclined have their fun.

Comic-Con cosplay. Speak of the devil, Cosplay posts are still pretty popular here. This year I was contacted by a couple of cosplayers who I had made fun of on the blog a couple years ago. I felt terrible. From now on I'm only focusing on the positive.

oh hi catwoman's butt. Speaking of the positive....

In addition to the top 10 posts of the year I also like to highlight the top ten search words or phrases that have brought new viewers to the blog. This year is pretty similar to last year. joseph gordon-levitt (1,794), not provided (1,493), scarlett johansson avengers (868), deadpool cosplay (474) nicole scherzinger boobs (474), scarlett johansson the avengers (387), joseph gordon levitt (364), kate upton boobs (296), peter crouch meme (249), nicole scherzinger tits (241),

Also this year I would like to send a special shout out to Bing. The search engine that brings in 1.2 percent of all visits. Good work Microsoft. Next year with your help, we'll get that chicken.

Warm Bodies might be good?

I haven't discussed the upcoming movie Warm Bodies here because the idea of Twilight but for Zombies is one of those things that makes my eye twitch and my brain hurt. However, the first 4 minutes of the movie were posted to you tube the other day and dare I say it looks ok? I mean, I'm not seeing it in the theater or anything. But if it's on netflix streaming I might add it to my instant queue.

2012, The year in Fail

The word Fail is one of those internet words that really grinds my gears. I swear it's a word that hacky bloggers throw around just to prove how cool they are. On the other hand I like to watch videos of people falling down.

What to do, What to do.

.. the Blurst of Times: Help for the Holidays

Having the week of Christmas off has provided me with ample opportunities to explore the depths of Lifetime and the Hallmark Channel's Holiday programing. With "..the Blurst of Times" I'll tell you all about whichever horrible made for TV movie I watched the night before.

In Help for the Holidays Summer Glau (Firefly) plays Christine Prancer an elf sent to help an upwardly mobile family regain their Christmas spirit in the guise of a new nanny. Apparently that's a thing Santa does now and would you believe that it leads to Summer Glau falling in love with the kids dreamy uncle who just so happens to run the town's Christmas tree farm? I won't ruin it for you and tell you if in the end she decides to give up her life as an elf to stay with captain dreamboat and her new found family but yes, she totally does.

On a scale of The Santa Clause 3 to Christmas Vacation, Help for the Holidays scores a respectable B -. It was a thousand times better than the Will Sasso as Santa barf fest I watched a couple days ago. Seriously what happened to Mira Sorvino?

Christmas Wish List: Trip to the Superbowl

Every day in December I plan on posting one thing from my official DevilDinosaur Christmas Wish List (patent pending). Why? Because I can.

Did you see the Seahawks crush the 49ers last night? It's hard to believe this was the same team that got beat by Arizona on opening day. I know we're probably not going to win the NFC west but we've already clinched a wildcard spot and they way that we're playing I don't think a couple wins in the playoffs are out of the question.

The Seahawks have only been to the Superbowl once in their history and they're one of like 14 teams to never have won it. Is it really too much to ask that they bring home the first championship trophy to Seattle in over 30 years?

'Twas The Night Before Links

The NRA Breaks Silence On Newtown Shootings, Resulting In Sadly Predictable And Impossibly Dumb Statements. Two things here, yes the press conference by the NRA was as bad as you could imagine. Classic NRA, saying that this needs to be the "start of a serious conversation" and that they will be taking no questions. However, the game the gun manufacturers are playing here is crazy smart. Everyone is going to be talking about the NRA now and not the millions of extra guns they're going to sell by whipping everyone into a frenzy. Imagine if the tobacco industry had been that smart.

Chris McQuarrie has Ideas for the X-Men Universe. I'm pretty much down for anything Chris McQuarrie wants to do. Gambit is Deadpool's father now? Sure, why not Chris? You had me at The Way of The Gun.

Marvel's Christmas-Themed House Ads From The '80s Are Bizarrely Jolly. I loved these ads, I swear I remember them better than any Christmas of my youth. Except maybe the Christmas I got thrown out of the First Class cabin because I was wearing sneakers. Merry Christmas to you too United Airlines.

Alex Morgan Went Paddle Boarding in Hawaii, Wore a Bikini. It's Christmas. Give the people what they want, right?

Christmas Wish List: External Hard Drive

Every day in December I plan on posting one thing from my official DevilDinosaur Christmas Wish List (patent pending). Why? Because I can.

Straight up, I need an external back up hard drive. My computer is a giant pos that could explode any minute. You think I joke, but this computer has literally caught on fire once before. I should really be backing it up regularly.

The ioSafe Solo G3 Hard Drive pictured above is fireproof, waterproof up to 10 feet and it comes with recovery support in case Godzilla steps on it and it does get damaged. If only I could drive it to work.

Tom Hardy in Mad Max is a thing, right?

Man, nothing is happening today. Here's a picture of Tom Hardy (Inception, The Dark Knight Rises) in the Mad Max reboot: Fury Road. I have nothing to say about this, other than that I'm surprised it's taken them this long to do a reboot. Maybe some studio exec was holding out for Mel Gibson to uncrazy himself.

Christmas is going well so far, for all the friends out there I haven't talked to in a while. I avoided the shaft this year and got the big bonus, which is good because the Christmas budget has been blown. Also this whole fiscal cliff nonsense everyone has been going on and on about really could hit me straight in the crotch gout. If they axe a couple of those "middle income" tax deductions we could very quickly go from breaking even this year to owing like 2 grand. Now that I think about that, how can they do that? They can't raise taxes for the year that's almost over, they have to be looking at taxes for 2013, right?

Also my car still needs either a new Mass Air Flow sensor or a new Thermostat sensor. I think I'm going to buy a thermostat sensor first, it's harder to replace but it's the cheaper of the two parts and it would explain why my heater has been acting wonky lately.

I'll be taking next week off to stay at home with Logan. His daycare is closed the week of Christmas. Hopefully I can get him to watch a couple new movies with me. I'm going to go crazy if I spend the entire week watching Cars 2 over and over and over. Seriously who thought 'Mater should be the star of the sequel? He's the worst... ugh.

Christmas Wish List: Finnish Igloo Vacation

Every day in December I plan on posting one thing from my official DevilDinosaur Christmas Wish List (patent pending). Why? Because I can.

Did you know there's a arctic resort in Finland where you can rent a glass igloo? You can just lay in a warm luxury bed watching the Aurora Borealis all night. Sounds fantastic to me. Who wants to send some frequent flier miles my way? I'll need a bunch 'cause I'm not flying all the way to Europe in coach.

X-Men: Days of Stop Motion Animation

Did you know the original X-Men cartoon* debuted 20 years ago last October? Yeah, sucks to be old. Anyway, some nerdy guy put together a nifty little stop motion version of the cartoon's intro. I could have done with a few less computer effects but it's still pretty cool looking.

*Pride of the X-Men doesn't count.

Hey Kids, Remember Tomb Raider?

Here's an extended preview of the upcoming reboot of the Tomb Raider franchise. I can't believe I'm saying this, but it looks pretty good. It literally sounds terrible though, whoever chose that voice over guy should be forced to spend hours playing Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness.

The Tomb Raider franchise has a soft spot in my heart, back in the day I played the crap out of Tomb Raider II. Along with vQuake (look it up) it was one of the first games I had that really gave my video card a work out. Also I'm a big big fan of putting RPG elements into action adventure or FPS games, and this whole base camp thing they have set up looks pretty good. Of course I thought the same thing about Dead Island and that game turned out to be pretty craptastic.

Christmas Wish List: New Gaming PC

Every day in December (except for yesterday when I needed a day off) I plan on posting one thing from my official DevilDinosaur Christmas Wish List (patent pending). Why? Because I can.

I need a new PC. The franken-computer I put together half a year ago works, but not well. I've mentioned before that I'm seeing way more blue screens of death than any modern PC should see. So as long as I'm getting a new computer (which I'm not) It might as well be a sweet PC gaming rig.

PC gaming has a lot going for it. The games are cheaper, the graphics are nicer the communities are more involved. Some games, like Battlefield, have been really neutered on the console when compared to the PC version. The biggest downside of course is the cost of a nice gaming rig. So get to clicking on the adds, daddy needs a new GeForce GTX680.

Christmas Wish List: A White Christmas

Every day in December I plan on posting one thing from my official DevilDinosaur Christmas Wish List (patent pending). Why? Because I can.

This year more than any other I really really want it to snow on or around Christmas. My son turned three about a month ago and this is the first Christmas he's had that he really gets what's going on around him. Today we saw Santa and he was so excited! We've been building up going to see Santa all weekend in hopes that when Logan finally saw him he wouldn't freak out and start crying. The strategy worked and then some. He was going on and on about Santa all day. When we got there he practically ran to the mall, and tried to cut in line to see the big guy. Sure he didn't smile for the camera but he did give Santa a big hello and a sweet high five.

Anyhoo, I guess my point here is that it has been awesome experiencing Christmas though the eyes of my 3 year old. It would be extra awesome if we could also go sledding.

Update! It snowed this morning.

Weekend Links, because I got lazy of Friday

Science says it sucks to be Batman. Of course it sucks to be Batman. Wet caves, bats, constant night shifts, teenage wards, it all sounds exhausting. I'd much rather be Reed Richards. Robot butlers, space ships, the Baxter building, flying cars and Jessica Alba.

These are the best Internet Providers. No big surprise here that Google kills the competition but I had no idea that Verizon's Fios service was so good. Wish it was available in my area. Way back in the day I lived in a small part of Tacoma that was covered by two different Cable companies and my bill was 10 dollars less because of the competition. I'm just saying.

The Shitty Parent's Guide to Christmas Presents. I know most my readership is sans-children but man this list is fantastic and totally on point.

Why the Buzzfeed vs The Oatmeal fight really matters. This whole Oatmeal vs Buzzfeed fight is pretty interesting as someone that spends way too much time on the internet. The gist of it is that Buzzfeed holds itself in a much higher regard than they should. You can't rag on someone that lives in a black SEO kettle when you're living in a black SEO pot.

Jumping off the roof is never a good idea

Here we have one of 'murica's best and brightest attempting to recreate Felix Baumgartner's parachute from space. It goes just about as well as you would expect. I think if he'd just drank one more Red Bull he would have made it.

Michelle Jenneke does stuff

Hey Kids, remember 6 months ago when the Olympics happened and the internet made a huge deal about which athletes were attractive and which weren't and bleacher report had slide shows of top 25 Volleyball players you want to bang and then someone posted some video of Australian hurdler Michelle Jenneke dancing before a race and everyone went crazy and there were tons of posts about her even though she wasn't an Olympian?

Well The Chive remembers and they did a video with her. It's pretty funny and by that I mean that she's pretty and I laughed when the guy tried to eat pancakes with nunchucks.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Christmas Wish List: My own Comic Book Shop

Every day in December I plan on posting one thing from my official DevilDinosaur Christmas Wish List (patent pending). Why? Because I can.

While the thought of actually owning my own business scares the stuffing out of me, the idea that I'm going to play office monkey for the next 20 years at a job I'm quickly hating is far far scarier.

Which brings us to my dream of someday owning my own comic book shop. I recently switched shops and while getting to know the owner of the new one, I learned that he more or less stumbled into owning his store. He started selling comics by setting up tables at swap meets on weekends and when a shop in his area closed down he just kind of absorbed their customer base and turned it into a brick and mortar store.

He blew my mind when he told me that someone with a collection my size could probably make a living selling comics on line and at shows and swap meets. Maybe one day he'll retire and then I'll live my dream of selling low margin goods in a dying industry to geeks and nerds. Who needs things like health care and 401ks?

Pacific Rim trailer.. O M G

Sweet Christmas this movie looks incredible. Giant monsters, robots, Idris Elba. I have no words, seriously, it's like Robot Jox and Cloverfield had a baby and I mean that in the best possible way.

Christmas Wish List: A New Car

Every day in December I plan on posting one thing from my official DevilDinosaur Christmas Wish List (patent pending). Why? Because I can.

I really want a new car. My 2003 Nissan Sentra has been a great car for me but it's starting to lose it's number one feature, it's reliability. It's been to the shop a bunch this year and against better judgement I've sort of made a monetary commitment that I'm going to try and keep it a bit longer. Right now it's got a starting issue that no shop has been able to fix. It's a minor flooding problem, that's probably just sensor related but the hassle is trying to find out which sensor since it's not blowing any codes.

Anyway it could be worse, I could be driving a Reliant Robin.

Him and I have an agreement

Christmas Wish List: Cookies!

Every day in December I plan on posting one thing from my official DevilDinosaur Christmas Wish List (patent pending). Why? Because I can.

Better Christmas Cookies! Every year my wife and I try and make Christmas cookies and every year they kinda don't really come out very good. It's not like they're bad, it's just they're kinda underwhelming Nothing worse then hours of baking and delicious smelling anticipation only be be let down with crunchy, stale tasting cookies . How am I supposed to have cookie dinner with sub par cookies?

Oblivion Trailer is full of Tom Cruise

Until yesterday, I hadn't heard anything about this new Tom Cruise movie, Oblivion. It looks pretty cool, I'm always down for a good post apocalyptic yarn. Hopefully this will have a bit more punch that say The Book of Eli did.

I know Tom Cruise is crazy in real life, but I still totally dig him as an actor. Name me one bad Tom Cruise movie that didn't also star Cameron Diaz or feature a beach boys song in the soundtrack? See you can't. 2 points me.

New Man of Steel trailer is full of beards

We saw the teaser a couple months ago but here's our first real good look at Zack Snyder's Superman reboot, Man of Steel. I think it looks pretty good so far, but my standards for a Superman movie are pretty low. I actually liked most of Superman Returns.

The trailer spends almost half it's two minutes focusing on Superman growing up, I hope the movie does too. I thought that was sort of the best part of Amazing Spider-Man when they focused on the pre-spidey stuff. There's really only two ways to go on a reboot like this where everyone is painfully familiar with the character. Draw out the origin and add something new, or just don't bother with it at all. If you're only going to go through the motions with it, what's the point?

Achievements in Real Life

This achievements in real life video is almost a bit too bro-tastic for my liking but it's still pretty funny. I'm positive yesterday I earned 20 points and unlocked the "didn't punch anyone in the face even though they gave me a real good reason" achievement.

Christmas Wish List: DIY Electronics Kits

Every day in December I plan on posting one thing from my official DevilDinosaur Christmas Wish List (patent pending). Why? Because I can.

These DIY Electronics Kits from Technology will Save Us look pretty awesome and are available in a wide range or prices. Perfect for the crafts oriented nerd in your family.

Line! Outtakes from the Dark Knight Rises

Strawberries are packed with fiber, good advice Bane!

Christmas Wish List: Drive a Tank

Every day in December I plan on posting one thing from my official DevilDinosaur Christmas Wish List (patent pending). Why? Because I can.

Do I have to explain why I would like to drive a tank? Seriously, it's a tank and you get to drive it. I have no idea this year what my wife got me for Christmas but if it doesn't involve crushing an old police care I will be dissapoint.

Gifts for Geeks from the Trolls that love them

Motion City Soundtrack: Her Words Destroyed my Planet

We're 7 days into Rockcember (patent pending) so maybe it's time to lay off the indie rap and melt faces with Minneapolis's own Motion City Soundtrack.

I love that this video takes place at a science fair. Even though I was pretty terrible at them, I LOVED science fairs. The weeks leading up to the yearly science fair were the best. I would come up with all these super elaborate experiments and ideas but in the end I'd just throw something really half assed together at the very last second.

One year I actually got my act together and built a really respectable experiment and display. The project was "Does a Pickle Conduct electricity?" Essentially I made a volt meter and built it into a real fancy looking display where you could test all different types of foods for electrical resistance. In the grand scheme of things it was really simple, but it looked cool and was fun to play with. Plus I got to use a soldering iron.

I didn't "win" the fair or anything, but I got a special recognition ribbon and advanced to the regional science fair. Of course at regionals I got whooped, they had no patience for my electric pickle nonsense.

Christmas Wish List: Ural Yamal

Every day in December I plan on posting one thing from my official DevilDinosaur Christmas Wish List (patent pending). Why? Because I can.

Named after the nuclear powered icebreaking ship built to traverse the wintry wasteland of Arctic seas, the Ural Yamal Limited Edition Sidecar Motorcycle ($14,250) might not break apart ice, but it will make me feel like a real manly man. Seriously, I've wanted an old motorcycle with a sidecar for sooooo long and this one's orange! I don't care if it costs as much as a car. I'll wear a scarf in the winter.

Amazonian Links

For Better or Worse, Wonder Woman is coming back to TV. I once said that there was no way a you could make a Wonder Woman TV show, with her traditional costume, that didn't look cheezy and stupid. Problem solved, the new Wonder Woman show will be called Amazon and it'll be on the CW so I'm sure she'll be fighting crime in a leather jacket and no one will ever call her Wonder Woman. Yay?

The Best Dungeons & Dragons Character Alignments. Funny list that makes me wish I played more D&D as a kid. I think I played all of 3 times, most of the times I was playing one of the knock of RPG games based on a existing franchise like TMNT or Robotech.

Japan's Ninjas are Headede for Extinction. Yeah right, that's what the Ninjas want you to believe. Then when you think they're all extinct, boom! Shuriken right between the eyes.

Randy Couture Responds to Steven Seagal's fight challenge. Conventional wisdom once was that Steven Seagal actually knew karate (or akido or whatever it is) and Jean Claude Van Damme was just a really buff gymnast. But lately I've been hearing from more and more guys in MMA that Seagal is a total joke and Van Damme actually spars on a regular basis. I don't know what to believe anymore!

Star Trek: Into Darkness

Here's the first trailer for the new Star Trek movie. It looks pretty good so far, I'm digging Sherlock as the villain this time around. There's two versions of this trailer floating around out there, the US version and the international version. The international version I posted here has like 4 extra seconds of footage in it. So there you are.

Christmas Wish List: Airplane Kindergarten

Every day in December I plan on posting one thing from my official DevilDinosaur Christmas Wish List (patent pending). Why? Because I can.

A lot of my friends with kids are starting to look at Kindergartens, since most of them make more money than I do, I'm sure all their kids will be going to super fancy private kindergartens with special high sensory learning annexes and MacBook Airs for everyone. Well this kindergarten in an airplane would really show them up. Your kid might be on the fast track to Harvard but my kid can land on an aircraft carrier at a 4th grade level already.

Paperman and the Future of 2D Animation

From everything I've seen on Twitter and Facebook the animated short that runs before Wreck it Ralph, Paperman, is fantastic. This 6 minute behind the scenes making of Paperman is pretty interesting. The youtube clip is named "the future of 2D animation" which is a bit misleading. It's still all 3D rendered CGI it's just made to look more like traditional 2D animation.

As a stodgy old guy I'm hoping 2D makes a return in American cinema but if it doesn't I guess I'll just have to be content with imports from Japan/Korea. More zombies and bouncing boobs for everyone!

Christmas Wish List: Star Wars, The Ultimate Action Figure Collection

Every day in December I plan on posting one thing from my official DevilDinosaur Christmas Wish List (patent pending). Why? Because I can.

Star Wars: The Ultimate Action Figure Collection is a book you can safely judge by its cover. It's a compilation, nay a compendium, of the more than 2,500 Star Wars action figures produced over the last 35 years. For just under $30 it's a heck of a lot cheaper than spending twenty grand on a Boba Fett with a shooting rocket pack.

New Xbox by Christmas 2013?

Ars Technica is reporting that Microsoft will be launching a new Xbox by Christmas 2013. The whole thing is still mostly whispers and rumors but at first glance it passes the smell test. The 360 went on sale in 2005 and 8 years for a console is a pretty long run. Sure, I feel bad for all the kids that are bound to get one this Christmas but my guess is most owners have gotten their money's worth by now.

So what's going to make you and I want to buy one? The long standing rumors have the Xbox 720 or 360.2 coming bundled with the Kinect hardware. It'll have wi-fi built in and will probably have Blu Ray and 3D capability like the Playstation 3 does. But none of those things are going to get me to dip into Logan's college savings for one.

I'm sure the graphics will be better, storage will be higher. However multiple rumors have the specs being less than groundbreaking. The Ars Technica article states a rumored $299 price tag, which would put some credence to the idea that the technical specs might end up a tad underwhelming. Graphics cards and high performance memory cost cash money and if Microsoft is sticking to $299 you can bet they're not giving away caviar at fish bait prices.

That's not to say games won't look and play a hell of a lot better on the next generation of consoles. Battlefield 3 and Skyrim already look pretty poor when compared to their PC versions, Far Cry 3 barely even looks like the same game. Newer, prettier versions of Call of Duty and Madden will sell a boat load of units all on their own.

Anyway, what other new bells and whistles will the Xbox 360 part deux will have? I'm hoping for support for more than 4 controllers. The old PS2 multitap used to allow for up to 8 people on NBA Live or FIFA and it was awesome. In the same vein I would be interested to see support for more than 2 people on kinect. Also the controllers should have screens like the Dreamcast VMUs did.

I'd love to see a DVR built in, but that would require some sort of cable card/tuner hardware integrated and that'll probably cost too much. I'm guessing you'll see an expansion of channels like ESPN3 and MLBtv. Also there's no way you won't be able to play farmville or any of your other stupid facebook games on it. Everything will be networked with all your other Windows 8 devices and there will be lot more talk about the cloud.

The fan and disk drive had better be a lot quieter. If it's supposed to be the hub of my home entertainment center it needs to be silent. Also I'd appreciate it if it didn't red ring me half an hour into Red Dead Redemption II.

Christmas Wish List: PRIMA Cinema

Every day in December I plan on posting one thing from my official DevilDinosaur Christmas Wish List (patent pending). Why? Because I can.

My grandma always tole me "go big or go home" so lets kick this list off with the PRIMA Cinema. It's basically a $35,000 netflix box that allows you to watch First Run (ie in theaters now) cinema quality 2D and 3D films in the privacy of your own home theater for a low low rental price of $500 a movie.

Sure that sounds like a lot, but how can you put a price on being able to watch Cloud Atlas while sitting in your underwear eating a big block of cheese?

Short stack of Links

Just look at this fratboy rapist. A year ago Writer/Director James Gunn wrote a blog post on the 50 Superheroes you want to have sex with. It dumb and crass and honestly not very funny, big deal right? Well it is now. You see Gunn is writing/directing the highly anticipated Guardians of the Galaxy film for Marvel and a few people on the interwebs aren't taking to kindly to Marvel hiring the guy that came up with lines like "The idea of my balls slapping against Gambit’s makes me sick to my stomach". I guess over 3,000 people have signed a petition to get him kicked off the film.

It should have been you Brett Ratner

10 Best Questions And Theories About The Samsung Galaxy ‘Sex Tape’ Commercial. These are all incredibly crass but hilarious. I'd recommend you don't add your own If you have dreams of writing and directing a movie for Disney.

The Hawkeye Initiative. Here's a blog dedicated to putting Hawkeye in the same "ridiculous" poses comic artist usually save for the Black Widow or Catwoman. I put ridiculous in quotes because I think at least a couple of these would work for a male superhero like Spider-Man.

Game of Thrones: Season 3, sort of sneak peak

Here's a little behind the scenes video for the upcoming season of Game of Thrones. It's not a real trailer or anything, it's mostly just actors talking about their roles and the upcoming season, still it's better than nothing right?

Christmas Wish List: R2-D2 Flask

Every day in December I plan on posting one thing from my official DevilDinosaur Christmas Wish List (patent pending). Why? Because I can.

This R2-D2 flask is surprisingly affordable at $16.99. It would be great for playing the Star Wars drinking game I invented. Basically while watching the original trilogy on Blu Ray you drink every time my wife rolls her eyes after I make a big stink at how much George Lucas has ruined these movies. It's fun for everyone!

I see what Best Buy did

Sorry for the lack of posts, this week has been crazy busy. Here's a funny picture I meant to post on Tuesday.

Thursday, November 29, 2012

Let's talk Star X-Wars Men

Or more specifically the rumors surrounding the upcoming X-Men and Star Wars movies.

First the X-Men. X-Men: First Class was sort of a weird movie. It was the prequel that was kind of a reboot. If you ignore X-Men 3 and Wolverine, it works as a prequel. If you accept that while both those movies suck, they are indeed part of the original X-men movie universe, it's a straight up reboot. It just doesn't work with those two crapfests no matter how hard you try to shoehorn it in.

So where does that leave its sequel X-Men: Days of Future Past? Well, Bryan Singer just announced that the majority of the original cast is onboard, plus Ian McKellen and Jean Luc Picard, and the current rumor (straight from the tweet of Rob Liefeld) is that Hugh Jackman is also in talks to appear. It would seem that Fox is perfectly happy pretending that X3 and Wolverine never existed. Hugh Jackman has already said that the Wolverine sequel is supposed to be a stand alone story that doesn't tie in with any of the other films. Personally I'm fine with the decision to cut bait. No sense in building on the awful decisions made in X3 and Wolverine.

Now Star Wars. I really haven't felt up to blogging about all the Star Wars crazy Star Wars rumors that have been flying around since Disney purchased the rights. Every day there's something new and it's exhausting. The big big rumor right now, that seems like it's almost confirmed is that Matthew Vaughn (Layer Cake, X-Men: First Class) dropped out of the X-Men sequel to direct the as yet untitled Episode VII.

Also being rumored is that Lawrence Kasdan (Empire Strikes Bake, ROTJ, Indiana Jones) has been hired to write co-write episode VII. Of course he's the 5th writer I've seen everyone on the internet jump all over so who knows on that one.

As far as rumors that sound smart enough to be true, it's been reported that Disney is looking to take the Marvel Comics shared universe approach to the new Star Wars films. Meaning that characters introduced in the previous movies (ie Dengar!) and the new films (ie Jorus C'Baoth!) would be spun of into new films as indirect sequels. Again, not sure how this is considered a rumor. I mean this is the whole point of Disney buying Star Wars in the first place. They're not going to remake the originals, nerds would literally storm the magic kingdom.

Boy Meets Links

Far Cry 3: The Kotaku Review. Man there isn't a game out there this holiday season that has impressed me in it's previews as much as Far Cry 3 has. This thing looks pretty killer but I'm still knee deep in Borderlands 2 and I haven't even touched my copy of Halo 4. Maybe I'll be able to pick up Far Cry 3 on the cheap after Christmas. Or even better, maybe this game will bring me back to PC gaming. That is if I can build a PC that won't blue screen it's pants every couple hours.

AMAZING LEGO Star Wars R2-D2 Set. You have any idea how much Legos cost these days? I've been hitting the Christmas shopping hard the last couple days (for my son of course) and these sets have gotten out of hand. It's like everything cool starts at $50 and if you really want to have some fun you're looking at over $100. Don't even get me started on the wooden train racket.

People like Red Dawn because they hate Asians. I still don't understand people who think it's cool to be openly racist on the internet. Keep that shit to your clan rallies and cross burnings please.

Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel Officially Join Girl Meets World Pilot. Rejoice TGIF lovers, The Boy meets world sequel, Girl meets World, is a go. At least it's a go for a pilot episode on ABC Family. Also relevant, my one of my favorite verses from Canadian rapper Wordburglar: "So shape up I break it down like Jenga, My rhymes look good Like tight shirts on Topanga"

Kirby Krackle: One More Episode

Sorry posting has been so sparse lately. Work has been hectic and my PC at home is throwing a lot of blue screen of death at me lately. Weird errors I tell ya. Virus and malware scans come up clean but IE, Chrome and Firefox all crash regularly and like I said I'm getting full on blue screens if I use any of the three. A reformat is probably in order, hell a new computer is in order but I don't have that kind of cash.

A little blogging secret, often I queue these posts up the night before or early in the morning so I can post them in the afternoon during prime blogging hours. With Hank being down (yes my computer is named after Hank Hill) it's hard to keep up my regular underwhelming output.

Anyhoo, here's a new video by Kirby Krackle called One More Episode. I was shocked at how many of these TV fonts and logos I recognized. Finally years and years of watching way to much TV has paid off.

Bacon Pancakes

I don't want to go out on a limb here but this mashup of Jake from Adventure time singing about bacon pancakes and Jay-Z's New York State of mind might just be the greatest East Coat Hip-Hop slash Adventure Time mash up of all time.

Sorry LL

Game of Thrones/Seinfeld, yada yada yada

If you're like me I'm sure you stay up late at nights wondering what Game of Thrones would be like if it was a classic NBC sitcom from the 90s. Well worry no further, here's a 2 minute mash up of Seinfeld and Game of Thrones. It's worth watching for the Joffrey scene alone.

Playdough: King of Queens

Wake up sleepy head, it's time to Rock out with your turkey leftovers out (patent pending). This friday we have a song off of Playdough's new EP, Writer Dye. It's a pretty sweet album and you can buy the whole thing on Bandcamp for as low as a dollar.

Fake Geek Girls: An Urgent PSA

I've really been avoiding this whole fake geek girl hullaballo because I find the whole topic of who's a real geek and who's a real nerd terribly exhausting. However, this fake PSA is hilarious and I'm all about hilarious. Also steam trains, I'm really into steam trains these days.

Mr. Torgues Campaign of Carnage Trailer

I'm not gonna lie, this new Borderlands DLC couldn't have come at a worst time. My parents are in town, and while I love them very much, they're cramping my video game style by occupying the room with the TV that the xbox is hooked up to.

I haven't beat Borderlands 2 yet, so I haven't even looked at the other DLC they've released but I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to get the season's pass. Season's passes for games are a sucker deal aren't they? I mean I get that usually when you get a pass like this (or elite, or pro or whatever the publisher is calling it) you usually save on all the DLC released for the game. Still, it basically means you're paying $100 for a new game. When did that happen? I feel like I'm getting ripped off, I'm getting ripped off, right?

‘Windows 95 Tips’ Documents The Horror Of ’90s Computing As We Remember It. I think they're stretching the truth here with their "as we remember it" claim. I remember beta testing Win 95 (code name Chicago!) and I don't remember it stealing my DNA for it's nefarious cloning experiments... or do we I?

The Most Ridiculously Expensive Factory Car Options. $50,000 for spec-V brakes on a GT-R? That's more than half the base price. Who buys a super car go stop anyway? You buy one to go fast... and to compensate for your small penis.

Restaurant Review: Guy’s American Kitchen & Bar in Times Square. This is a couple weeks old by now, but in case you haven't read it, you have to check it out. It's a brutal take down of Guy Fieri's new restaurant in Times Square. Couldn't have happened to a nicer douche.

What Skyrim Looks like with over 100 graphic mods. Uber gamer/nerd Unreal has posted a boat load of Skyrim screen shots using a wide array of graphic mods. The results are absolutely stunning, and hard it's hard to fathom that these were rendered in real time, even if at times the game was running under 5 fps. Well worth checking out if you're interested in the future of Computer graphics.
