Or more specifically the rumors surrounding the upcoming X-Men and Star Wars movies.
First the X-Men. X-Men: First Class was sort of a weird movie. It was the prequel that was kind of a reboot. If you ignore X-Men 3 and Wolverine, it works as a prequel. If you accept that while both those movies suck, they are indeed part of the original X-men movie universe, it's a straight up reboot. It just doesn't work with those two crapfests no matter how hard you try to shoehorn it in.
So where does that leave its sequel X-Men: Days of Future Past? Well, Bryan Singer just announced that the majority of the original cast is onboard, plus Ian McKellen and Jean Luc Picard, and the current rumor (straight from the tweet of Rob Liefeld) is that Hugh Jackman is also in talks to appear. It would seem that Fox is perfectly happy pretending that X3 and Wolverine never existed. Hugh Jackman has already said that the Wolverine sequel is supposed to be a stand alone story that doesn't tie in with any of the other films. Personally I'm fine with the decision to cut bait. No sense in building on the awful decisions made in X3 and Wolverine.
Now Star Wars. I really haven't felt up to blogging about all the Star Wars crazy Star Wars rumors that have been flying around since Disney purchased the rights. Every day there's something new and it's exhausting. The big big rumor right now, that seems like it's almost confirmed is that Matthew Vaughn (Layer Cake, X-Men: First Class) dropped out of the X-Men sequel to direct the as yet untitled Episode VII.
Also being rumored is that Lawrence Kasdan (Empire Strikes Bake, ROTJ, Indiana Jones) has been hired to write co-write episode VII. Of course he's the 5th writer I've seen everyone on the internet jump all over so who knows on that one.
As far as rumors that sound smart enough to be true, it's been reported that Disney is looking to take the Marvel Comics shared universe approach to the new Star Wars films. Meaning that characters introduced in the previous movies (ie Dengar!) and the new films (ie Jorus C'Baoth!) would be spun of into new films as indirect sequels. Again, not sure how this is considered a rumor. I mean this is the whole point of Disney buying Star Wars in the first place. They're not going to remake the originals, nerds would literally storm the magic kingdom.

Boy Meets Links
Far Cry 3: The Kotaku Review. Man there isn't a game out there this holiday season that has impressed me in it's previews as much as Far Cry 3 has. This thing looks pretty killer but I'm still knee deep in Borderlands 2 and I haven't even touched my copy of Halo 4. Maybe I'll be able to pick up Far Cry 3 on the cheap after Christmas. Or even better, maybe this game will bring me back to PC gaming. That is if I can build a PC that won't blue screen it's pants every couple hours.
AMAZING LEGO Star Wars R2-D2 Set. You have any idea how much Legos cost these days? I've been hitting the Christmas shopping hard the last couple days (for my son of course) and these sets have gotten out of hand. It's like everything cool starts at $50 and if you really want to have some fun you're looking at over $100. Don't even get me started on the wooden train racket.
People like Red Dawn because they hate Asians. I still don't understand people who think it's cool to be openly racist on the internet. Keep that shit to your clan rallies and cross burnings please.
Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel Officially Join Girl Meets World Pilot. Rejoice TGIF lovers, The Boy meets world sequel, Girl meets World, is a go. At least it's a go for a pilot episode on ABC Family. Also relevant, my one of my favorite verses from Canadian rapper Wordburglar: "So shape up I break it down like Jenga, My rhymes look good Like tight shirts on Topanga"

Sorry posting has been so sparse lately. Work has been hectic and my PC at home is throwing a lot of blue screen of death at me lately. Weird errors I tell ya. Virus and malware scans come up clean but IE, Chrome and Firefox all crash regularly and like I said I'm getting full on blue screens if I use any of the three. A reformat is probably in order, hell a new computer is in order but I don't have that kind of cash.
A little blogging secret, often I queue these posts up the night before or early in the morning so I can post them in the afternoon during prime blogging hours. With Hank being down (yes my computer is named after Hank Hill) it's hard to keep up myregular underwhelming output.
Anyhoo, here's a new video by Kirby Krackle called One More Episode. I was shocked at how many of these TV fonts and logos I recognized. Finally years and years of watching way to much TV has paid off.

Mr. Torgues Campaign of Carnage Trailer
I'm not gonna lie, this new Borderlands DLC couldn't have come at a worst time. My parents are in town, and while I love them very much, they're cramping my video game style by occupying the room with the TV that the xbox is hooked up to.
I haven't beat Borderlands 2 yet, so I haven't even looked at the other DLC they've released but I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to get the season's pass. Season's passes for games are a sucker deal aren't they? I mean I get that usually when you get a pass like this (or elite, or pro or whatever the publisher is calling it) you usually save on all the DLC released for the game. Still, it basically means you're paying $100 for a new game. When did that happen? I feel like I'm getting ripped off, I'm getting ripped off, right?

As you might have inferred from the title this is a sneak preview of the upcoming Elder Scrolls MMO. It looks really really cool. After watching it I was really thinking about adding it to my short list of games I want to play but then I realized how much I hate games with no conclusion. I never even finished Skyrim and that game is supposed to have an actual plot (although I couldn't tell you what that plot is exactly). I'm pretty sure I would get sick of this MMO after a couple of months of dungeon crawling and leveling up.

The 100 Best Video Games of All Time. It's pretty much impossible to put together a definitive list of the best video games ever, but this one isn't too bad. I like that instead of ranking them 1-100 they just go by the dates they were published. My only real big complaint is that they snubbed Red Dead Redemption which is still my favorite game of all time (sorry Ultima IV).
Real Names in Games Mean More Money for the NCAA, Executive Argued. In my mind this is a big story that's getting very little attention. Former UCLA star Ed O'Bannon and a handful of other former student athletes are suing the NCAA for improperly licensing the names, images and likenesses of former D-I football and men's basketball players in various commercial ventures without the players' permission and without providing them compensation. Yeah, I copied and pasted most of that. The gist of it is that the NCAA makes a ton of cash from companies like EA who put the likeness of the athlete's into their videogames. I'm shocked it's taken us 20 years of college sports video games to get here and I hope in the end the players get their fair share.
Cowboys & Aliens Comic Writer Fred Van Lente Live-Tweets First Viewing of the Movie. Spoiler Alert, the movie turns out so boring he doesn't have much to say. Still an interesting little anecdote.
26 Examples Proving Spider-Meme Is The Best Meme. My son has yet to get into Spider-Man cartoons. We watched one a couple weeks ago and he was pretty ambivalent towards it. He's still all Thomas the Tank Engine and Wonderpets. This morning he did ask for "robots" so I put on an episode of Transformers. If he really likes it maybe in a week or two I'll write up a big review for seasons one and two of the original series.

I guess Washington State has a standing law allowing “mutual combat”, meaning if two people want to go at it, they can if they both agree to do so in front of authorities.

Fire up the speculatron, rumors are flying fast and furious today that Stephanie Szostak will be playing Janet Van Dyne, aka the Wasp, in Iron Man 3. Hit me with your best shot The Mary Sue:
First: Szostak is one of the top-billed cast members, which indicates that her character is going to have a larger role than the absolute lack of information Marvel has released about her so far would indicate.Ok, that's far from conclusive evidence but since my post about Joseph Gordon-Levitt being the Joker in The Dark Knight Rises got tons and tons of hits, I'm just going to go ahead and pretend this is fact. It makes sense, Black Widow was introduced in Iron Man 2, why not introduce another Avenger in Iron Man 3? Plus the Wasp is a founding member of the Avengers she kinda got hosed by being excluded from the movie Avengers.
Second: The mysterious Roger Wardell tweeted that “When Stephanie Szostak’s role is for Iron Man 3 is announced, fans will go crazy.” Wardell has made a habit of tweeting “Insider News” related to the Marvel films, and while he’s not that credible a source ScreenRant notes that he tweeted about the Falcon being in Captain America: The Winter Soldier before it became official. A tipster at ComicBook.com has also claimed that Szostak is playing the Wasp.
Third: Marvel’s given us a lot of information about Iron Man 3 so far, from tons of new armor designs to hints about the final battle. They’ve got to have an ace or two up their sleeve as far as surprising fans is concerned. ‘Tis the Marvel way.
Four: It’s already been rumored that Ant Man, a.k.a Hank Pym, will make an appearance in the Iron Man 3 post-credits sequence. Since Ant Man is the Wasp’s partner and, later, husband, introducing them both in Iron Man 3 would make sense.

A new trailer for GTA V hit the web this morning. It probably doesn't need to be said that it looks amazing. I've already read some speculation that this is really for the Xbox 720 or the Playstation 4.0 and not the current generation of consoles. I think the answer is an emphatic "sort of". PC graphics are already way way ahead of the current consoles, I'm guessing is the graphics shown in the trailer are from a PC port of the game not a specific console port. A lot of video game publishers already do this with their big tentpole games (Battlefield 3 comes immediately to mind). So yes, this trailer is giving you a peak at what the next generation of consoles will be able to do. But no, GTA V is still scheduled for release March 2013 on Xbox 360 and PS3.

Which is a fancy way of saying they plan on turning you upside down and shaking the change out of your pockets. Essentially the kinnect would recognize how many people are in the room and make sure you pay $4.99 per head for Twilight II Electric Boogaloo. Go Science!

Call of Duty Black Ops II: The Destructiod Review. I really like this review because they acknowledge the fact that big event games like this have become impossible to review. If it's a bad score you're just a hater and can't enjoy a game based on it's merits or it's a good score and you're just a corporate shill who's looking to buddy up to the software developers for free swag.
I'll try and be honest, I think Black Ops II looks fun and if I had tons of cash and a bunch of free time on my hands I'd totally pick it up. But yeah, a COD game every year is a bit much and it's become hard to separate COD from it's frat-tastic fan base. Also Activision... ugh, amirite?

Shut it down! This is the only song you'll need this Thanksgiving, or any Thanksgiving really. It's better than all those other Thanksgiving songs like... um there's that one about the pilgrims, and um...
Anyhoo, this is another one of those teen vanity songs done by the guys that did Friday. It's pretty awesome and I'm guessing you're going to hear it a lot between now and November 22nd. Watch it now and in a week you can brag to all your friends that you've been rocking out to it for like forever man.
BTW, what kind of awesome Thanksgiving is it when it's just you, your teenage best friends and a middle aged African american fellow dressed in a Turkey costume? That's a world I want to live in.

Honestly I can't think of why you would make anything out of chrome in space. Seems unnecessarily gaudy to me. Why not Blood and Brushed Nickel or Blood and Titanium Alloy, that seems way more practical.
Oh yeah this is a trailer for a webseries that serves as a prequel to Battlestar Galactica. Looks good to me!

Surprisingly, this was much funnier than either Colbert or the Daily Show last night. Eli Whitney... Hilarious!

It's a pretty slow day on the internet today, unless you want to talk politics. So here's a nice little video of some Finnish goalkeeper doing a bunch of cool trick shots. My favorite is when he blasts the guy with a ball in the stomach from like 5 feet away.

Good riddance: Halo 4 creators threaten permabans for sexist comments. I love this idea in theory, but I'm worried that people will get banned when they don't really deserve it. How are you supposed to keep your friends from yelling something in the mic? Or what happens when some 12 year old reports you for offensive behavior just because you whooped him like a rented mule on Nuketown? ..and then said you were going to sex up his mother. Doesn't seem fair.
Never Ask The Internet For Photoshop Help. If only George Costanza had asked 4 chan to airbrush him out of the picture of Mr Kruger, he might still have his job. Wait, he never did get fired did he? Good for you body suit man.
Every Single Microsoft Device. Ever. Lesson Learned, Microsoft has made an ass load of mice and keyboards.
Today in @#$% People Are Making Up About Episode VII. Yeah this is pretty much going to happen nonstop for the next 3 years. This go round has Harrison Ford open to returning to Star Wars episode VII (even though he begged to get killed off in Empire) and Matthew Vaughn (X-Men: First Class) directing. However, I heard Disney's looking at hiring McG to direct and Peter Facinelli and Tiffani Amber Thiessen (pictured above) to star. The working Title? Star Wars Episode VII: Return to Fastlane.

We Have Taco Cannon
Some Taco place in Austin has invented a Taco Cannon. As in a cannon that shoots tacos. Unfortunately much like Big Foot or the Loch Ness Monster finding good youtube footage of the Taco Cannon is neigh impossible. Pictures are easy to find though, so here are some pictures. Now someone shoot me with a Taco!

However, Robert Downey Jr. is in a fighter jet so my argument is pretty invalid.
F(x): Electric Shock
Friday morning means it's another installment of Rock out with your K-Pop Out (patent pending). True story time: When I first heard Gangnam style my first reaction wasn't OMG I need to make a parody video of this, it was OMG I need to listen to more K-Pop. So go ahead and add it to the list of weird music genres I'm really into.
My favorite part is random use of English.

Jimminy Christmas everyone and their grandma keeps asking me about Disney buying Star Wars. Here's the deal, neither George Lucas or Disney are going to do anything to ruin my childhood. My childhood happened 30 years ago and unless I pull a Billy Pilgrim, I don't think I'm going to be revisiting it anytime soon. So as far as my love of Star Wars and all the memories I have of it as a kid, those will be just fine. They're not going anywhere (that is until I enter my inevitable slide into senility, but that's a good 5-10 years away).
So lets look towards the future! The Future is bright. Disney makes some pretty good movies. I don't care how well it did in the box office, I'd watch John Carter of Mars a thousand times before watching the Attack of the Clones again. If there's going to be more Star Wars movies (and that was inevitable) we're much better off without Lucas being involved. Maybe we'll get a stand alone Boba Fett movie!
And we haven't even talked about the DVDs. Rob Bricken has a pretty good rundown of the complications surrounding the DVD/ Blu Ray rights to all the existing movies. Again here's a situation where Disney has a much better track record than George Lucas. Sure, Disney does that whole Disney Vault nonsense where they maximize dollars by keeping their films scarce, but they don't jerk around their fan bases like Lucas does. Maybe just maybe we'll see a nice high-def transfer of the original unedited trilogy before they remake them staring Channing Tatum, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Swift.
C-Tates is Han.
