The best house on the block

This year the entirety of my Halloween decorations was a mini pumpkin my kid brought home from day care and the Monster Mash repeatedly playing in my subconscious. Next year I'm doing this with my house, except for the whole Black Eyed Peas awful song thing. I'm thinking more AC/DC or Pantera. That'll wake up those little weiner kids across the street.

R2-D2 will sex up your Dirt Devil

Would it kill Walmart or Target to do some Star Wars commercials? I mean honestly, this is better than all three prequels.

Hump Day Link Day

Masturbating bear will return. This is great news, not just for fans of the masturbating bear, but for all the fans of Conan before NBC tried to nuter him on the tonight show.

Co-ed built the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Van. How on earth did they never do this on Pimp my ride?

Sears; for all your zombie needs. Normally when I think of Sears I don't think about zany website hijinks. I just think about stealing GI Joes when I was 10.

Gears of Work

This 5 minute video of a guy playing with gears is probably going to be the coolest thing I'll see all day. Well, outside of a mirror that is.

Enter, the Machine of Death!

So this comic lead to this book.

which lead to this comic

Read about the whole thing here, or just enjoy the comics. Or not, whatever man, like I even care.

Tron: Derezzed

If we can get a Daft Punk video for the upcoming Tron sequel, I'm pretty sure a new Soul Coughing video for the yet to be filmed The Last Starfighter sequel isn't completely out of the question.

..also staring Olivia Wilde of course.

..the Blurst of Times

Having a 11 month old that just doesn't want to sleep like a normal human has provided me with ample opportunities to watch absolute garbage TV shows and movies at 1 in the morning. With "..the Blurst of Times" I'll tell you all about whatever horrible abortion of a TV show I watched the night before.

Zombie Strippers is one of those movies that really delivers on it's title. At least I assume it does, I mean I've never actually been in a strip club or worse yet, seen a real zombie.

Now if you missed Zombie Strippers in the theater let me tell you the small screen hardly does it justice. If you really want to appreciate how god-awful Jenna Jameson looks these days you really need to check it out in Imax, or at least in digitally projected 3-d. It also helps if you've read the book before hand, the plot has a lot of twists and turns, and if you don't pay close attention you'll get confused. Think Inception but with breast implants.

On a scale of 1 to when I fell asleep this movie scores a very respectable 40 minutes. I mean lets face it, zombies and strippers are going to hold your attention for quite a while. It wasn't until the zombies started stripping that I called it a night.

Spaceballs 2; the search for more money

If the rumors are true (and I'm sure they're not) then George Lucas is contemplating making some sequels to the original trilogy. No word if this will delay that Tuskegee Airman movie he's been working on since before Episode I.

I'd totally watch Boob Zombie

Red Dead Redemption; Undead Nightmare Trailer

Sweet Christmas, they've put zombies in Red Dead Redemption! I don't care if this costs 10,000 x-box live points plus all my exp points in Halo Reach, I will be purchasing this on October 26th. Then I will be calling in sick on the 27th. Loren I might miss your wedding on the 30th. No promises.

Hump Day Link Day

The Sad History of Mac Gaming. I've hated Apple ever since they ditched the IIgs in favor of the far inferior Mac Classic. This article only reinforces that hate.

Marvel reveals Tron inspired covers. Cool Idea, I guess, but why does Ms. Marvel have a metal codpiece over her costume?

The R2-D2 swimsuit happened. This is like a thousand different kinds of awesome. Clearly we're living in a magical time for any and all geeks.

Sick Day

Sorry I was out sick all day yesterday. Here's a puppy.

Wow these guys are just... wow.

So here's some nerds dressed up as the X-men rapping and dancing at New York Comic-Con. Sorry..

Bill Murray is just taunting us now

Bill Murray won some award on Spike TV this weekend and showed up to accept it in full Ghostbusters costume. Awesome right? Wrong.

It's been reported that the only thing holding up a Ghostbusters 3 movie is that Bill Murray doesn't want to do it. So either he's finally changed his mind (which would be awesome but kinda unlikely) or he's just messing with fans (far far more likely and kinda dickish too).

I bet that somehow this is all Rick Moranis's fault.

Zombies are politely invading Japan

Someone awesome in Japan thought it would be a good idea to trick some children into thinking a zombie was attacking them and then film it. Turns out the video isn't just entertaining but It's pretty informational too. I had no idea zombies were so polite in Japan. Here in the states they almost never send a hand written letter to let you know they're coming. Here you're lucky you get a text.

oh yeah, to the kid who throws the gun; Live it up while you can, if this was real you'd be dead.

Cosplayin' Kids

I wish I was this cool when I was 10

So the little lady and I bought our son his very first Halloween costume the other day. Lucky for me the costume shop was out of the one my wife wanted and we got the one I really wanted. Mother F'in Darth Vader. Obviously It says a lot about me that I think dressing our 11 month old up as the baddest Sith Lord ever is super cute. Of course it says even more about me that I insisted we also buy him a light saber, because without one what's the point? And before you ask, yes I made sure we bought him one that actually looks like Darth Vader's, not Luke's or Obi Wan's.

oh God, I'm such a geek...

The good news is I'm not alone! Check out this mini gallery of kids forced to wear stupid crap all because their parents are obsessive dorks.

Lets just hope Favre didn't send any texts after this.

Wednesday Linkapalooza

17 minutes of behind the scenes Walking Dead footage. Come on man... when is this thing going to be on the air already? Does AMC have any idea how much Glee my wife has contractually obligated me to watch between now and October 31st?

35 sad pugs in costumes. The lesson here is don't dress your dog up in a stupid costume unless you're going to post pictures on the internet.

The very best of NY Comic Con. A photo blog of a noobs first experience at NYCC. I've got to admit this was much funnier than it had any right to be.

Call of Duty: Black Ops

Great googly moogly, the new trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops looks pretty bad ass. I swear my stupid weiner kid had better be old enough to take care of himself when this game comes out.

Tumblr Tuesday

If you've been paying attention the last couple months you'd realize I've become obsessed with Tumblr. Of course this obsession has resulted in me creating own tumblr blog.

el DiabloDinosaur

I'm pretty sure George Washington could kick Master Chief's ass

el DiabloDinosaur is the Brad Pitt to DevilDinosaur's Ed Norton. In fact the first rule of DiabloDinosaur is that we're never going to speak of it again. In your face blogging synergy.

The Making of The Empire Strikes Back

Vanity Fair has an article on The Making of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, by J. W. Rinzler. It's freaking amazing. That last picture is the monkey that was supposed to play yoda. That's right Yoda was going to be a monkey in a mask. Think about that one for a minute.

This book has quickly shot to the top of my Christmas wish list.. right after a hoverboard but before world peace.

Call of Duty Death Quote by Call of Duty Players

I like the little Death Quotes that pop up after you get beat down in Call of Duty, but I like these fake ones better. I mean Donald Rumsfeld has nothing on YokoPWNo1990.

Community writers are on another level

On last weeks Community (which if you don't watch you're stupid) Abed showed up at the end and was all “not much” when one of the characters asked him what he’d been up to. Well That wasn't entirely true, Abed has his own storyline playing out in the background of certain scenes during the show. I only noticed part of it when I saw it the first time. The YouTube clip above has the whole thing edited down.

How is this show getting beat by Big Bang Theory in the ratings every week? It's cause Americans are stupid right?

Nerd out Nerds my wedding

The hardest thing about being nerdy and getting married to someone far less nerdy is that you don't get the Star Wars wedding of your dreams. All I was able to sneak in was the Superman theme as our outro. This guy pictured above was able to get every dude in the wedding party to wear a JLA shirt under their tuxes, which is pretty awesome. Still not as cool as a Star Wars wedding where my niece was going to be a Jawa but cool nonetheless.

Comics are getting cheaper?

Well you could have knocked me over with a feather when I read this today.

Both DC and Marvel Comics announced Thursday that they will be slashing price points from $3.99 to $2.99 on huge proportions of their publishing catalogs.

ComicsAlliance

I've been collecting comics for about 23 years now and this is the first time any of the major publishers have actually cut prices. Now it's not all sunshine and lollipops, both DC and Marvel are expected to cut the amount of story pages for each comic from 22 to 20 and they're still going to gouge you on one shots or "prestige" books with extra shiny covers. Still, when most books went from 2.99 to 3.99 almost overnight I started to cut back big time. On any give month I still buy somewhere between 20 and 25 comics. Do the math and you'll see its a difference of about 25 dollars a month. That's a lot of Diapers and forumla...

Actually that's not a lot of diapers and formula. I swear, this kid is costing me a fortune. Maybe if DC and Marvel keep dropping prices I'll just diaper him with whatever Judd Winick is writing.

Diora Baird should play Wonder Woman

I was planning on doing a big post this week on a list of actresses I think should play Wonder Woman in the soon to be awful TV Show. But then FHM had Diora Baird on its cover and the search was over. She's tall, she's built like a comic book character (ie boobs!) and she's a pretty good actress.

Someone get one of the Warner Brothers on the phone for me. I need to talk with them before they cast Jennifer Love Hewitt.

Thursday Morning Links

The weirdest, wrongest and sexiest new costumes for 2010. I tell you one thing, I'd rather see 1000 sexy Wolverines than even one stupid blue person from Avatar.

Emma Stone Officially cast in Spider-Man. But as Gwen Stacey not Mary Jane.. BRAAAAHHHHM! I like how this keeps up the Marvel tradition of casting blondes to play redheads and redheads to play blondes.

Jeff Parker: The Atlas Exit Interview. Odds are no one here cares about this, but if by chance you read Agents of Atlas this interview is fascinating. If you didn't read Agents of Atlas well then, shame on you good sir.

Papercraft Star Wars

This video for Jeremy Messersmith's song Tatooine is pretty sweet. In fact it's way WAY better than the song. I don't want to cast aspersions without knowing the guy, but I'll bet you my star wars pez collection Jeremy Messersmith wears skinny jeans and has a neck tattoo.

New Walking Dead Spot

Most of the stuff from this commercial is footage we've already seen from the SDCC trailer, but does that really matter? 3 extra seconds of Walking Dead footage has got to be better than whatever nerdy garbage I would have posted otherwise, amirite?

Tumblr Tuesday

You know the drill, It's Tuesday and on Tuesday I like to highlight a different tumblr blog. It's quick, it's easy and I figure if I do it enough someday someone somewhere will link to my blog.

This week it's the extra awesome F*ck Yeah, Science Fiction.

Seriously, that's a Lego Kang and Kodos. Do I really need to tell you why that's awesome? Do I? Do I?!

WB announces things.. blogger yawns

There were two big news stories in comicbookdom yesterday. First that Warner Bros is in negotiations with David E Kelly to reboot the Wonder Woman TV show and second that Zack Snyder has signed on to direct the next Superman movie. I really wish either of these stories tickled my spider sense but I could really care less. It's not that I don't like either character, I just would rather read the comics.

Superman is so ridiculously overpowered that he comes across as kinda cheesy on the big screen. I mean I love Superman II as much as the next nerd but at the end of the movie he slips Lois Lane a mickey that makes her forget like a month of her life, and we're just supposed to sit there and say "oh yeah, that seems plausible". In the comics Superman having near godlike powers works. Writers and artists can stretch what's plausible and realistic to extreme boundaries. In the movies you just can't do that without losing the audience (Superman III and IV anyone?). I guess that's why they're reportedly bringing back General Zod. The only person that can realistically stand toe to toe with Supes is another Kryptonian.

Now a new Wonder Woman TV seems like such an awful idea that I think I'm becoming more interested. There's so many things that can go wrong here. First off David E. Kelly, wtf? How do you even connect those 2 dots? Second, third and fourth off Superhero tv shows are pretty much just awful. Have you seen 2 minutes of No Ordinary Family? Just imagine Heroes but with a worse budget and more insulting dialogue. TV is an awful medium for actual capes and spandex style superheroes, just ask the Flash, Birds of Prey, Night Man or MANTIS. Better yet, just as the 4 people that still watch Smallville.

Get Bay'ed

The Michael Bayifier will take any old boring picture you have (like this one of me playing soccer) and totally make it awesome with all the planes, explosions and Shia Labeouf your sorry face can handle. Now go wash my Ferrari.

Isaiah Mustafa is your celebrity nerd of the Century, of the week.

Isaiah Mustafa (the old spice guy) has been lobbying teh internets to play Luke Cage in a movie that Marvel probably has no plans on making. He's released some photos of him as Luke Cage, he went to SDCC dressed as him and he has the obligatory facebook campaign (I'm already a follower). Now here he is in an officially licensed Marvel comics web series thing that I didn't know existed. spoiler alert, he rides Beta Ray Bill like a horse.
