Diablo III confirmed for consoles

So far 2012 looks to be the year of the budget in the DevilDinosaur household, so the twitter announcement that Blizzard is porting out Diablo III to consoles is great news. My desktop PC is about 6 years old and in desperate need for an upgrade. The other day the fan in the power plant went out and I had to scrounge in my spare parts box just to get it back up and running. It was a sad realization that my rig won't play anything more graphically demanding than bejeweled blitz. I have a newer laptop but really, laptop gaming? What's the point?

It'll be interesting to see how Diablo III actually plays on a console. Diablo has never had the most complicated control scheme or even really advanced graphics, so it should be doable. I'm also guessing it will be easier to join multiplayer games with friends on xbox live than the old IP address shuffle of Diablo II.

Zombieland the TV show, why not?

Yesterday Vulture (which is a thing on the internet, I guess) reported that Fox is looking to adapt Zombieland into a TV show. Take it away Vulture:

We hear talks are well under way with Fox Broadcasting and Columbia’s sister unit, Sony Pictures Television, to put the zom-com into development for the 2012-13 season. If it happens, it will actually be sort of fitting.

As Zombieland producer Gavin Polone noted, “The original plan for this was to make it as a TV show.” Indeed, CBS actually ordered a pilot script for the concept all the way back in 2005, “but they did what networks do, which is to take all the good stuff out.”

I'm shocked it took this long for another network to get on board the zombie train (I'm looking at you CW). I mean everyone LOVES The Walking Dead and it's not even that good. I mean it's good, it's just not that good. Certianly not good enough to be the only zombie show on TV.

Besides Zombieland is fun, you ever read The Walking Dead comic? After every issue I feel like taking a shower and hugging my family for about 20 minutes. Zombieland just made me want to hang out with Bill Murray and shoot things, advantage Zombieland.

Comics are getting cheaper?

Well you could have knocked me over with a feather when I read this today.

Both DC and Marvel Comics announced Thursday that they will be slashing price points from $3.99 to $2.99 on huge proportions of their publishing catalogs.

I've been collecting comics for about 23 years now and this is the first time any of the major publishers have actually cut prices. Now it's not all sunshine and lollipops, both DC and Marvel are expected to cut the amount of story pages for each comic from 22 to 20 and they're still going to gouge you on one shots or "prestige" books with extra shiny covers. Still, when most books went from 2.99 to 3.99 almost overnight I started to cut back big time. On any give month I still buy somewhere between 20 and 25 comics. Do the math and you'll see its a difference of about 25 dollars a month. That's a lot of Diapers and forumla...

Actually that's not a lot of diapers and formula. I swear, this kid is costing me a fortune. Maybe if DC and Marvel keep dropping prices I'll just diaper him with whatever Judd Winick is writing.
