Mad Max Fan re-creates Max's Interceptor

Some crazy awesome guy with way to much disposable income spent about $120,000 re-creating Mad Max's 1972 Ford Falcon. It looks really, really cool. Pretty much anything on the street with a huge blower gets my attention, but the amount of detail he's recreated is impressive.

I love that it gets 6 miles to a gallon. What a terrible car to drive around in the apocalypse.

Grey Tuesday Links

‘Windows 95 Tips’ Documents The Horror Of ’90s Computing As We Remember It. I think they're stretching the truth here with their "as we remember it" claim. I remember beta testing Win 95 (code name Chicago!) and I don't remember it stealing my DNA for it's nefarious cloning experiments... or do we I?

The Most Ridiculously Expensive Factory Car Options. $50,000 for spec-V brakes on a GT-R? That's more than half the base price. Who buys a super car go stop anyway? You buy one to go fast... and to compensate for your small penis.

Restaurant Review: Guy’s American Kitchen & Bar in Times Square. This is a couple weeks old by now, but in case you haven't read it, you have to check it out. It's a brutal take down of Guy Fieri's new restaurant in Times Square. Couldn't have happened to a nicer douche.

What Skyrim Looks like with over 100 graphic mods. Uber gamer/nerd Unreal has posted a boat load of Skyrim screen shots using a wide array of graphic mods. The results are absolutely stunning, and hard it's hard to fathom that these were rendered in real time, even if at times the game was running under 5 fps. Well worth checking out if you're interested in the future of Computer graphics.

Win Ernest Cline's Delorean

Ernest Cline, author of Ready Player One and follower of my tumblr, announced an appropriately geeky contest this week. I could stumble my way through the deets or I could just block quote someone.

[Cline] has hidden an “Easter egg” in the text of both the hardcover and paperback editions ofReady Player One. If readers can find this hidden clue, it will lead them to the first of three increasingly difficult video game challenges. The first person to complete all three of these challenges will win the grand prize, a 1982 DeLorean automobile, complete with a Flux Capacitor! Ernest Cline will be driving this DeLorean Time Machine across the country on his book tour this June, so contestants will have a chance to see the grand prize in person at each of his book signings.

You've got to admit that's pretty awesome. I just finished Clash of Kings today and I was thinking about taking a Game of Thrones break, maybe I'll go ahead and reread Ready Player One. Although if the contest is anything like the one in the book I have less than zero chance of winning. I never figured out how to get past the Grue.

Check out the video announcement below, it really highlights the awesomesauce that is the 82 Delorean.

Christmas List: Nissan Juke-R

Every day in December I plan on posting one thing from my official DevilDinosaur Christmas Wish List (patent pending). Why? Because I can.

Today's lustful wish is the Nissan Juke-R. A one-off build, the Juke-R takes Nissan's ugly ass crossover my wife won't even let me look at and crams a 485 hp, twin-turbo V6 — taken from the Nissan GT-R — under its hood. It also has a matte black paint job, bigger rims, breaks and suspension which means it probably handles like Toad in Mariocart.

Ford's nor really interested in making money

"The Ford Performance Vehicles F6 E Concept is more than just a concept, it's planned for production with a sale price of $78,190 AUD or about $50,550 in US play money. What you'll get for your Aussie dollar is a walloping 415 HP, 416 lb-ft, turbocharged, 4.0 liter inline six cylinder running the rear wheels through a Sequential Sports Shift six speed automatic transmission. Binders gets upgraded with Brembos fitted hiding beneath 19 inch wheels and styling gets a few other subtle upgrades. Just for the record, it gets about 20 MPG."
It even looks better than the Taurus SHO. Why is it that Australia gets all the coolest stuff? Paul Hogan, Koala Bears, Mad Max, Miranda Kerr... For a nation full of criminals they sure are well off.

Stop teasing me Ford!

Remember how awesome RoboCop was? You know what car he drove? A ford Taurus SHO.
"The new SHO boasts the highest level of tune so far announced for the Ecoboost V6 — 365 HP and 350 lb-ft of torque, going above and beyond the previously rated 355 HP in the 2010 Ford Flex and 2010 Lincoln MKS. The more important part of those power figures is where it comes in at, with peak torque starting from 1500 RPM and topping out at 3500 RPM. Shoot, that's almost in diesel territory. Ford isn't being bashful about this new SHO either, boldly claiming the Taurus SHO will outperform the BMW 550i while returning 25 MPG on the highway and coming in at a reasonable $37,995 price. Those are certainly fightin' words."
I swear Ford, if this car ends up in australia exclusively I will dig up Henry Fords bones and punch him in the face.

where quality is job #16 or #17

I want to buy a Holden Commodore, but for some reason I'd be very hesitant to buy a Pontiac G8 GXP. Even after reading jalopnik.com's first look at the G8. I mean it's the same car right? The Holden is just the Australian version of the G8. But for some reason the thought of buying a pontiac leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Growing up I had plenty of opportunities to push all kinds of dead detroit made machinery out of the middle of the street. My ford thunderbird, my dad's corvette and his chevy s-10, my mom's lincoln continental, a friend's dodge daytona, another friend's firebird. This is just what american cars do right? they look pretty, are filled with gadgets and doo-dads, have plenty of hp, burn oil, and leave you with ample opportunities to get some fresh air, walking to the nearest payphone. Would it be considered tragic or ironic if the big 3 were to go out of business right around the same time they finally started making excellent cars?

Maybe I can buy a G8 and pay the extra $2500 for the body kit and badges that allow you to "convert" it into the Holden.
