Top Ten Video Games that Started as Other Games

Here's a interesting little list from the folks at Machinima of games that started out as other games. The most famous example from their list is probably Super Mario Bros II. The interesting fact about that one that they left out is that eventually the game we knew as Super Mario Bros II (which as they mentioned was a reskinned Doki Doki Panic because the real Super Mario Bros II was too difficult for an american audience) was eventually ported BACK to Japan as Super Mario Bros USA.

I'm guessing that didn't do anything to squash the idea that Americans were terrible at video games.

New Mortal Kombat X Trailer

Here's the new Trailer for Mortal Kombat X that facebook is telling me is trending super hard right now. I'm going to flat out say this right now, this trailer is the worst kind of trailer. Is this gameplay footage? CGI cutscene for no reason? Does it tell you or show you anything about the game that you might not already have imagined a new Mortal Kombat game would have in it? I guess it's pretty to look at?

Also whats the point of showing a guy getting his kneecap broke if he immediately started jumping and flipping around like it was no big deal? When did Sub Zero become John Cena?

Double Dragon Kombat

As I mentioned earlier in the week, I went to an arcade/bar last weekend where I was able to relive the years 1984-1993 through video games (and some pinball). Not surprisingly Street Fighter II: Championship Edition still holds up incredibly well. Also not surprising Mortal Kombat, along with all the other games use similar looking digitized characters, is kinda sucky. I don't remember seeing Double Dragon there but I'm definitely going to look for it when I go back. Man that game was hella fun.

Watch the Links

7 Video Games That Are Going To Be Surprisingly Successful In 2013. I haven't even heard of this Remember Me game, it looks fantastic. It also looks like one of those "next gen" games everyone is waiting for. There's just no way this thing is running on an Xbox 360 or PS3, it has to be a high end PC rig.

Video Games are a Bigger Problem than Guns. Says a US Senator. Clearly we shouldn't be arming soldiers with assault rifles, we should give them copies of Mortal Kombat and Doom II. (sigh) I'm all for a serious conversation about the impact of movies and tv shows and video games on the youth of America, but the people that are in the NRA's pocket are acting like fools. No study has definitively linked violent video games with violent behavior. In fact there's pretty good empirical evidence that as our entertainment has become more violent over the years actual violence has gone down. But whatever, comics had to go through a similar witch hunt in the 50s and they got through that. Video Games will be just fine.

Adam WarRock's 'Watch The Throne (X)' Is The Next Mutation Of Hip Hop. This isn't as good as his X-factor EP or the recently released Mjolnir single, but it's still free Adam WarRock. Seriously, it's free. All you have to do is right click and save. What are you still doing here?

Well Endowed Mortal Kombat Kitana Mousepad. I'm pretty sure this would get me fired at work and divorced at home but if you want to get one, please be my guest. Nothing weird about that at all.

New Mortal Kombat commercial is spank-tastic

I have no idea what Sony is selling with this commercial but I am buying.

BTW, anyone remember the fight scene the Mummy 2? The one where the two girls dressed as Egyptian slutty princesses go at it. Now that was a good movie.
