Gallon of Links

I Drank A Gallon Of Water A Day For 30 Days. I really need to do this. I know I suffer from dehydration pretty much constantly. The only days I don't are days I play soccer when I'm consciously drinking extra water. I get migraines way too often and I'm always tired. I'm not sure about the carrying around a gallon jug with me all day but I'm sure there's someway I can make it work. I have next week off, maybe I'll start then.

Wolverine 3 Will be R-Rated, and Star a 'Bold, Different' Wolverine. It sure sounds like Wolverine 3 will be as close to an adaption of Old Man Logan Fox can do. I say close because the two major bad guys in OML are a family of Hulks and a Spider-Man villain. I'm 99.9% sure they're going to have to rework that.

Old Man Logan is one of those stories that's good but not really great. It's essentially Unforgiven but with Wolverine, which really is a can't miss idea. If they get even a half way competent writer and director on the project this is going to make a billion dollars.

Mario makes leap to Minecraft. I know the new Nintendo is rumored to be less than a year away but man I still really want a WiiU. There's just so many cool games on it. Maybe the price will drop this Christmas. I have zero problem playing old games on it, probably the only game that would be horribly outdated would be Splatoon, because I'm guessing there's not a lot of people on-line playing it anymore. Everything else like Mario Maker, and Captain Toad Treasure Tracker would still be cool as hell.

The new Pirates of the Caribbean at Shanghai Disneyland is amazing. I am ready to go to Disneyland. Unfortunately my daughter isn't quite ready yet. Maybe in 2 or 3 more years we'll make a big trip of it. I want to do the full meal deal where we stay at one of the Disney hotels but I'm not sure if I'm ready for a second and third mortgage on the house. The smart thing to do would be to start saving money now, but I'll probably just buy a bunch of scratch tickets. Someone's got to win, right?

Minecraft: Story Mode

My son and I have been playing a lot of Minecraft on the kindle lately. It's a lot more fun that I thought it would be, turns out there's a reason it's a billion dollar cash machine. However, it's not a perfect game by any means. One of the biggest complaints I've seen of the game is that there's essentially zero story or plot. While that can be a good thing I understand that some gamers need to feel like they're building to something not just building for building's sake.

Well we're all in luck. As opposed to Mojang or Microsoft shoehorning a plot or a story into Minecraft 2 they've given the reigns to Telltale Games who have created a narrative-driven game simply called Minecraft: Story Mode. It looks like it could be a lot of fun and since Telltale Games usually release their games in small episodes over the course of a year it probably will be pretty cheap to pick up and try. Hooray for everyone?

Pixel Gun 3d: The Review

A few weeks ago my son introduced me to a new game (yep, that's a thing that happens now) called Pixel Gun 3d. It's funny, Minecraft is so popular that there's this whole subgenre of minecraft rip-off games. Basically take any game you've liked in the past 20 years, make the graphics look like Minecraft then take your dump truck to the bank and collect your monies. That's the long way of me saying that Pixel Gun 3d is basically Call of Duty set in Minecraft.

Like any good mobile game (did I mention I was playing this on the Kindle Fire HD 7?) the game is free but if you want to actually have any fun in the game you've got to pay, more on that later. The game has all the basic first person shooter modes: Team deathmatch, Capture the flag, a campaign mode everyone ignores... It even has levels ripped from popular games. The fact that I recognized a couple but I haven't played a popular fps in a couple years leads me to believe all the levels are ripped off from something. It's dirty pool from the designers but as a player I kind of like the familiarity. The controls are pretty decent too. It took a few matches to get used to them but once you do circle strafes for everyone!

One of the most successful and addicting parts of playing shooters like Call of Duty is leveling up and getting more gear. Pixel Gun handles this by rewarding players with coins and gems whenever they finish a match with a win or complete a level on campaign. It's pretty standard fare for a mobile game. If I had to guess I'd say I played the game for an hour before I was able to afford one new weapon. Eventually I caved and spent a couple dollars to get enough coins or gems to grab a few different upgrades. I don't mind spending a dollar or two on a game I'm going to play a lot. So no big deal. Of course once you buy cool gear you get put in matches with other players with cool gear so the games get a lot harder, making you want to buy even more cool gear, right?

Long story slightly shorter, Pixel Gun 3d is pretty fun. It's not going to kill you to try it out. I mean, I'll probably kill you. In the game. Not in real life of course.

It's Always Links

It’s Always Sunny In Minelandia: Movie Director Announced. This one really came out of left field. I understand that Rob McElhenny has been doing a great job directing episodes of It's Always Sunny but to go from that to what I assume will be a pretty big tentpole film is a pretty big leap. Here's hoping they sneak a rum ham in there somewhere.

Hot Toys Is Making a Sixth-Scale Millennium Falcon That's 18-Feet Long. I'm sure this will never be for sale but I don't care I want it. Hot Toys already makes remarkably accurate figurines imagine what they can do on this large of a scale? I wouldn't be surprised if it has functioning blasters and a holographic chess game.

There Was Nothing in the World Like Action Park. I LOVE stories about Action Park and this is probably as comprehensive of a run down on old "Traction Park" as you're going to get. Man I really wish I could have ridden that looping water slide, just look at that thing. It's as beautiful as it is terrifying.

What 10 Hours Of Walking At Comic-Con As A Female Cosplayer Looks Like. Welp, this is pretty depressing. Go ahead and watch the video or read the article, maybe do both. I don't know how much free time you have.

First off, Yes. If you are going to go dressed up to a Con dressed in a provocative manner you're going to get attention. That's man or woman. Boobs or Butt cheeks. Abs or Flabs. 36 Double D's or a 36 foot long foam sword. But attention shouldn't equal harassment.

Believe it or not you can ask to have your picture taken with someone in a sexy outfit without acting like a complete sleeze-douche.

I don't understand the Minecraft sale

Yesterday it became official, Microsoft is buying Minecraft dev Mojang for roughly all the money in the world (ie 2.5 billion dollars). Sweet Christmas, that's a lot of money. I know Minecraft is one of the most popular games in the world right now but I just can't imagine it's worth 2.5 Billion dollars. The studio behind it is small, like 40 people or so. Some of them are straight up walking away once the check clears, including Notch THE guy behind Minecraft. So 2.5 billion for a small gaming studio, minus the couple of people that really run it.

Maybe I'm underestimating just how much the Minecraft brand is worth. T-shirts, toys, I don't know.... maybe a cartoon or a movie? Maybe that's not a crazy amount of money. I mean there's no way Microsoft is writing a 2.5 billion dollar check just to get Minecraft 2 exclusive on the Xbone and windows phone, right? That would be crazy and totally desperate, right?
