Ben Affleck Reportedly Doesn't Want to Play Batman Anymore. Are we at full on crisis mode over at the WB/DC yet? Around the time when Ben Affleck was first announced as the new Batman he went on record saying he would direct a stand alone Batman movie as long as the script was right. First it was announced that he wouldn't be directing the movie now everyone and their grandma is reporting that he doesn't want to do it at all. That's not good. Combine that with how poorly Dawn of Justice was received by critics and the rumors that Wonder Woman is a mess and everyone at the studio hates it, and you're left with a less than rosy outlook for the DC Cinematic Universe.

Oh yeah, it's also been reported that they're trying to get Mel Gibson to direct Suicide Squad 2. Can't wait for the scene where Joker calls Harley sugar tits.

Kate Upton lands 2017 'Sports Illustrated' swimsuit issue cover. I thought we were all over Kate Upton, so congrats I guess, for getting back in the public eye. I think she's tied a record for most cover appearances. I guess I could google it but that seems like more work than I want to go in on this. Someone on the radio mentioned this was some kind of record so lets just go with that.

She will hand me the kindle and ask to watch "let it go", which doesn't mean she wants the song from Frozen. It means she wants to watch one of these Youtubers that always plays with Elsa and Anna dolls. Next to Paw Patrol and waking up in the middle of the night, it's like her third favorite thing in the world.

Hero Coder Adapts 'Portal' for the Apple II. I don't know if I'd call him a hero, that doesn't look like a ton of fun to play. I'm surprised more of these kinds of things don't exist. Sure pretty much no one has an Apple II in the house but getting your hands on an emulator is super easy. How come there aren't more SNES and NES games. If I was single and had freetime you know I'd be coding up some mods for SFII, sexy mods. Like Guile without a shirt on.

Kate Upton Doesn’t Care About Black People. I'm so glad I was at Rose City Comic Con on 9/11. Watching football with all those patriotic hot takes on Colin Kaepernick would have exploded my brain. I swear if I hear one more person in the media say they support someone's right to protest just not during the national anthem I'm going to plotz.

Did you know NFL players weren't even on the field for the national anthem until 2009 when the department of defense started sending the NFL bags of cash to stage patriotic displays before games. Hear that right wingers, your patriotism is a government conspiracy.

What Made Cartridge Games So Clever. Your average NES or Atari 2600 cartridges weren't all that special but once the SNES rolled into town game makers were putting all sorts of things on the cartridge from extra graphics processors to extra memory. It's really quite clever.

Pictures from 2016 Rose City Comic Con. There was lots of good cosplay at RCCC, I only got a handful of pictures so we'll just go with this gallery from Edward Mitchell. I really need to get a better camera, and not just a better phone. Camera phones can take really nice pictures given the right lighting and circumstances but nothing beats an actual camera. Panasonic and Sony both make a DSLRs that's aren't enormous, maybe that will be my Christmas gift to myself this year.

Back to the cosplay, I went to the big cosplay contest they had at RCCC which was the first time I had ever been to one. It was fun but I was a bit underwhelmed. There were a few really great costumes, but I felt like I had seen nicer costumes just walking the floor earlier that day. Also the categories were a bit off. People with really elaborate costumes that have obviously been doing this a long time were grouped in with people who had only spend a few hours on theirs. It didn't seem very fair. Maybe next year I'll have to go to the one ECCC does and see how they do it.

How long does it take games to be cheap on Steam? The quick answer is most games will be 50% off after 180 days. That's not too bad. However if you want to wait for those big 75% off sales you're looking at waiting almost a year. So look for me to pick up Fallout 4 in another 6 or 7 months.

I don't know about you but can you imagine waiting a week to receive all your sports news? A WEEK! In 2014 terms a week is forever. Ever issue might as well read as a best of the previous year. Even the swimsuit issue makes zero sense to me. Almost every picture has already popped up on imgur (more on that later this week), why would anyone actually pay to look at what's so free on the internet? Are these marketed exclusively to children that can't figure out a way to get around their parents porn blockers? That can't be that big of a market. 10-15 kids tops?

We’ve Witnessed The Greatest Pro Wrestling Entrance Ever. It Involves Giant Swords And A Velociraptor. Kazuchika Okada of New Japan Pro wrestling destroys the best Pro Wrestling entrance with the inclusion of an animatronic dinosaur. At least I assume it was an animatronic dinosaur. I guess it could have been a real one. Japan has those crazy square watermelons. As far as I can tell breeding Dinosaurs is pretty much the next step after square watermelons.

Horse: The Jalopnik Review. You know what's sort of ironic about horses? Most have more than one horsepower. Sure by definition a single horse should have a single horsepower but since horsepower has become a scientific measurement of power most horses have more than one. And that folks is why I'm awesome at trivial pursuit.

Nerf Zombie Strike Toy Weapons Are the Best Defense Against the Imaginary Undead Uprising. I'm a bit torn on Nerf guns. On one hand I feel like I don't really want my son playing with guns. It kind of sends the wrong message about gun safety. On the other hand kids pick up a stick and they turn it into a gun so why try and stop the tide? Maybe when he's 11 or 12 we'll take a couple gun safety courses together so that we can go hog wild on nerf guns.

Word on the street is that Rocksteady is working on a Silver Age prequel to Arkham City/Asylum that would show how Batman first met the Joker and the Justice League. If so that is awesome! I love Arkham City, but I'm not sure if I want more of the same. A Silver Age game would feel like something completely new and exciting.

Microsoft's Surface Tablet got my attention. This is not bad work from the new Big Blue. Tablets are great and everyone has a lot of fun with them but the idea of building one to be a real tool in and out of the office seems like an instant winner. Microsoft to offer $99 Xbox 360 bundle with service commitment. Big big rumors this morning that Microsoft is going to offer a $99 Xbox 360/Kinect bundle so long as you sign up for a a 2 year subscription to some Xbox Live gold+ service (no idea what that plus will represent other than 15 dollars a month). In my opinion Microsoft is smart to take a flyer on this idea before they release the Xbox 1080. If they can undercut Sony and Nintendo's pricing by offering subscription discounts when the new round of consoles hit the market, watch out man. They'll be swimming in market share.

Gaming's biggest joys and disappointments of 2012. Good list. For me the biggest gaming disappointment was easily Dead Island. That trailer was soo amazing. When I finally saw a walk through of the gameplay I knew it wasn't going to live up to the hype. Too bad.

The first time I used an Apple Computer. Unlike some nerds I don't have a whole bunch of positive things to say about Steve Jobs or Apple. But I can say one nice thing. Steve Jobs was the co-founder of the company that created the first computer I ever used, the Apple IIe, and my favorite computer or all time, the Apple IIgs. So for that, I'll admit he's had a big influence in my life.
