Fox News Contributor Gets Death Threats After 'Star Wars' Joke. I'm not saying she deserved to get any death threats BUT if Katherine Timpf was to get them they shouldn't be from Star Wars fans, they should be from comedy fans outraged at her AWFUL attempt at humor. Seriously, Star Wars fans are nerds? What are you 12?
Top 5 - Xbox 360 exclusive games of all time. This is a pretty good list. I would definitely have put Shadow Complex on it over Fable III but at least they gave it an honorable mention. Also the Xbox 360 turned 10 years old last weekend. Father time is really coming for us all isn't he?
The Absurd History of Nike Air Technology. Oh man, I remember just how bad I wanted a pair of Nike Air when I was a kid. My parents had enough money to send me to private school but not enough to buy me fancy shoes. Like I was always wearing weird European shoes like Lotto or Diadora that you could find in the bargain bin at Big 5. I'm sure that if I went to school in Turino I would have been super cool.
I think I got my first pair of Nike Air when I was like 17 or 18 and I remember how horrified I was when I realized it was just a fancy insole you could pull out of the shoe (they weren't the visible kind). What a scam.
If you've ever watched Fox and Friends then you know what's coming don't you? You can tell just by the screenshot in the youtube clip? If you haven't watched Fox and Friends then buckle up Sally, you're in for some HAWT TAEKS.
In the latest issue of Captain America (a book I'm not buying due to limited funds and not really caring that much about the creative team) the newest Captain America, Sam Wilson (who you may better know as Cap's long time sidekick The Falcon) comes to the aid of some illegal immigrants who just so happen to have run afoul of the Sons of the Serpent. The Sons of the Serpent aren't exactly on the same level as Hydra or AIM when it comes to comic book evil-doers but they've been around in comics for like 40 or 50 years. Originally created as a place holder for skin-heads or neo-nazis they've sort of evolved into this group of weirdos that sometimes worship the snake god Set, while still opposing racial, ethnic, and religious minorities.
Anyway Fox news and a few other conservative media outlets see a bunch of racist white guys and they immediately self-identify with them and before you know it COMIC BOOKS ARE JUST ANOTHER FORM OF LIBERAL ATTACKS FROM THE MEDIA THREATENING REAL AMERICANS WITH THEIR LIES... AND THEY TOOK OUR JERBS!
It's so dumb I barely wanted to say anything about it but I couldn't come up with another blog post today so here we are. The thing that's really stupid is that if you've ever read comics you're already pretty familiar with Captain America being a democrat. It's not like he's out stumping for Obama but you can tell he's always been more liberal than conservative. So have the X-Men, so have the Avengers, so have the Inhumans. Comic book writers and artists inject their books with a lot of their own personality and guess what? Artists and writers tend to lean towards the liberal spectrum of things, I know that's pretty shocking. Sorry I should have told you to sit down.
That's not to say that there aren't conservative voices in the medium, they're just in the minority. I don't know what to tell you other than that. It's a free market? I voted for Kodos?
Yeah, that's an actual painting Michael Jackson had commissioned of himself a couple years ago. Just a friendly reminder that before he died and everyone forgot how creepy he was, he was really really creepy.
As a side note I don't think MTV has ever produced a show as awesome as Jersey Shore. It makes Singled Out (with Jenny McCarthy) look like Singled Out (with Carmen Electra). I pray for our country, knowing that there's some myspace toolbox out there completely missing the point of the show and is really hoping he/she will get cast on the second season.
"Since their inception, there have been only a few black superheroes in comic books, and fewer still have achieved mainstream appeal.... But Obama's rise to the presidency now has many people in the business of creating and marketing heroes hoping that a black superhero will finally break into mainstream pop culture."
sounds stupid right? wait for it... wait for it....
"Before Obama won the presidency, blacks were largely implausible as superheroes, Craft said. "I think that there is a perception of black people that America is comfortable with, and I'm not sure the hero role was it," he said. "We can be athletes and rappers, but not Superman."
Bingo! We have a winner for dumbest thing you'll read on-line today. Martin Luther King Jr? sucker. Malcolm X? I'm pretty sure he's a rapper. Booker T. Washington? He was an outfielder for the cards right? Hiram Revels? I think he was on Sanford and Son... wait Hiram Revels was the first black man to serve in the US Senate? Are you sure he wasn't on Sanford and Son, I'm pretty good at remembering these kinds of things...
Ok, back to my point. Fox News sucks... on all levels. Now for your pleasure some black superheroes. A few of which have already been on TV or in movies.
My name is Kevin and I blog, mostly about nerdy stuff. I'm old enough to know that Gobots came before Transformers and geeky enough to care.
