Marvel Studios' Avengers: Infinity War - Official Trailer

This has to be the last Avengers: Infinity War trailer, right? I feel like there've been a hundred of these things at least. The Thor: Ragnarok blu-ray had a boatload of behind the scenes stuff too. It's like I've seen half the movie already.

Anyhoo, it looks really good. I saw some site already talking about how before watching it you HAVE to watch Guardians of the Galaxy again. I guess they're right in a way. I mean I'm crazy well versed in comic book nonsense so I think I take for granted the fact that there are some details about Thanos in the movie that are kind of important to know. The kinds of details that are easy to forget in a 2 hour movie where the Racoon and the Tree steal the show.

I'd recommend going back and watching all the Marvel movies that feature the Infinity Gems Stones. So we're talking: Captain America: The First Avenger
Thor
The Avengers
Thor: The Dark World
Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Guardians of the Galaxy
Avengers: Age of Ultron
Captain America: Civil War
Doctor Strange
Thor: Ragnarok

Although looking at that list you could probably easily remove Thor, Winter Soldier and Civil War. The Stones aren't a big part of those movies, if pressed for time you could lift Captain America: First Avenger out of there too. The Tesseract (which hold a stone) is also heavily featured in The Avengers so you don't really need to double dip. Here's what I'd watch for sure:

The Avengers
Thor: The Dark World
Guardians of the Galaxy
Avengers: Age of Ultron
Captain America: Civil War
Doctor Strange
Thor: Ragnarok

If you watch all those, you'll know where each stone is currently in the MCU. Honestly, it's probably not THAT important to enjoying Infinity War that you even know that, they'll probably recap all of it at the start of the movie but hey, you could do worse with 14 hours of your life.

Avengers: Infinity War Official Trailer

Earlier today marvel released the first trailer for the hotly anticipated Avengers: Infinity War.

It looks fine.

I don't know what to say, I'm not as super excited over this as the rest of the internet it apparently. By no means do I think it looks bad or anything it just kind of looks exactly like I expected it to look. Even the bit at the end with the GOTG played out exactly like my son and I imagined it was going to after seeing Thor: Ragnarok. It's probably just me, I'm still thinking about Ragnarok and not ready to move on to the next movie.

Unless it's Black Panther. Black Panther looks epic.

How about this, call me once I've seen Black Panther, then maybe I'll be in the mood for more Hulkbuster armor or whatever.

Real Mjolnir

In this blogger's not so humble opinion, one of the best scenes in Avengers: Age of Ultron is when the heroes are all gathered around, having some drinks, trying to pick up Thor's magical hammer. The best Avengers comics aren't just about a group of superheroes saving the day, it's about a group of friends that forge these familial bonds while saving the day. That one scene probably captures the essence of the comics better than any number of CGI powered fight scenes combined.

Anyhoo, the point of this is that super Youtuber Sufficiently Advanced (probably not his real name) has developed a real Mjolnir. It might not open portals to other worlds or command lighting but only the worthy can pick it up. In this case worthy = the correct fingerprints but it's still a pretty cool idea.

Also sad that we can do this with toy hammers but not with guns.... sorry. Of course we can do this with guns, we just refuse to.

Taxpayer Links

Inside the Redman MTV Cribs Episode. Stop what you are doing and read this wonderfully written article on one of the seminal moments of MTV. I haven't been this as excited to link to something since the oral history of Baywatch a couple years ago. They even interview Sugar Bear. SUGAR BEAR!

Chris Christie Spent $82,594 Of Taxpayer Money At An NFL Stadium. HOLY SHITSNACKS that's a lot of cotton candy. It's roughly $5,000 a game. What are you buying that's costing that kind of money? Is the Old Milwaukee being personally delivered by the Swedish Bikini team? Man, American politics are crazy crooked. Maybe not Italian level crooked but still super crooked.

Black Widow Absent From A Toy Based On One Of Her Coolest AoU Moments. Of course she is. I've mentioned this before but holy crap is it hard to find female representation in kids toys. I've actually been sort of happy with the Skylanders videogame/toys in this aspect. There are quite a few cool female Skylanders and miracle of all miracles, my son doesn't have a problem playing them at all. Now if they could just lower the price of Swap Force guys a bit...

The top ten arcade racing games of the 1980s. This article is hella old but I don't care. Hard Driving was the bomb yo. I swear I learned how to drive a stick on that thing. I mean I didn't of course. All I learned about was how to dump the clutch in a tremendously dangerous fashion but who cares? Did you see those 3-D graphics?

Avengers: Age of Ultron, the review

Thanks to Audi and some people I know who bought an Audi recently, I got to see a sneak preview of The Avengers: Age of Ultron last night... although I'm not sure how much of a sneak preview it was considering it was playing at the Cinerama like 4 hours later. I'll save you spoilers and keep this short. It was really good. Maybe not as good as the Bacon Cheese Burger I got at Five Guys before we saw it, but still really good. There were some minor parts that I didn't like and I thought some of the action sequences were a bit too similar to the first one but overall you definitely get your money's worth. Two thumbs way up.

Good jorb Marvel and good luck topping it DC.

Avengers: Age of Ultron Trailer #3

About 51 minutes ago Marvel dropped the newest Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer on youtube. It's got a lot of new footage in it. It still looks really cool. That's my patented in depth analysis.

May 1st is right around the corner isn't it? I might have to start working on babysitting options right now, I can't imagine my wife is going to be cool with me just ditching her to go see it.

Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War Teaser Trailer

I'm not sure when it happened but overtime this blog clearly has become an advertising arm of Marvel Studios. Here's a Death Blow cam look at the Avengers: Infinity War teaser. There's not much but it's still pretty cool. The crowd reaction really puts it over the top. Only 4 and a half years away!

Hello Avengers: Rise of Ultron Trailer

Ok... now that I've watched this about a half dozen times I guess it's time to write something. First off big ups to Marvel/Disney for just releasing the full HD trailer a couple hours after the bootleg one leaked onto the web. I know they were trying to boost the ratings for next week's Agents of SHIELD but recognizing the cat is out of the bag is good business sense. Not only that, they did it with a sense of humor:

Now, thoughts on the trailer itself:

James Spader had me at hello. His Ultron voice is terrifying in it's casualness. In the comics I've always read Ultron's voice as sort of a stereotypical robotic sounding bad guy. Not quite a Dalek but more like a Cyberman. Spader is nothing like that and I love it! Combine his casual yet earnest delivery with that shambling robot thing you see smash War Machine's armor and woooo doogie, we've got ourselves a bad guy.

LOL, Hulkbuster Iron Man. I know the Hulkbuster Iron Man is supposed to be a big deal in this trailer but anyone that's read their fair share of comics knows that Hulk whomps Hulkbuster armor every time. Also my guess here is that either Scarlet Witch is controlling the Hulk in that scene requiring Tony to try and stop the Hulk or Ultron is controlling the Hulkbuster suit. Either way there's some controlling going on.

Speaking of Scarlet Witch and her brother Quicksilver... Both of them look pretty cool. I'm interested to see exactly how they (and Hydra) relate to Ultron. Technically with an Ultron story you don't need any other bad guys. Ultron has the ability to replicate himself and to take over other types of tech so he creates multiple bad guys to punch all on his own. I wonder if they'll tie him to Hydra or if his interactions with them will be purely accidental.

Hey, I see you there Andy Serkis. There's a lot of speculation as to just who Serkis is playing in this movie. I think he looks like Ulik the Troll but considering Ulik is supposed to be 8 feet tall I'm guessing that's not him. The most popular theory is that he's Ulysses Klaw a scientist obsessed with Vibranium who ends up turning himself into living sound (comics are weird). Klaw is primarily a Black Panther villain so there's rampant speculation that Age of Ultron will introduce Black Panther.

That's all I have for now. Maybe after watching it a dozen more times I'll have more to talk about. Man, 2015 can't get here fast enough.

Hello Scarlet Witch in Avengers: Age of Ultron

A bunch of set pictures from Avengers: Age of Ultron hit the interwebs yesterday. They're noteworthy because they're the first we've seen of The Scarlet Witch and her brother Quicksilver. They also show a few pictures of a real half assed looking Ultron thing that I assume will end up pretty heavy with the cgi.

So far I think everything looks great. Scarlet Witch kinda looks like a cross between evil Willow from Buffy and Daria's best friend Jane, which really hits all the right buttons for me. A bunch of people are crapping all over Quicksilver's costume but I don't think it looks too bad. It's a guy in a tech shirt wearing Nikes. What did they expect? The spandex quicksilver suit with the deep v-neck and the high collar? Now that would look ridiculous.

"Let's dress up like the Avengers and make superhero shaped cookies" is something my wife has never said. Yeah, I don't know what's wrong with her either...

Fire up the Speculatron for Avengers: Age of Ultron!

The big deal at the 374th annual San Diego Comic-Con was the announcement the sequel to The Avengers was going to be titled Avengers: Age of Ultron. The big surprise here is that most fans assumed that Thanos (the villain revealed in The Avengers stinger) would be the big villain in Avengers 2.

It certainly leaves us with more questions than answers. Ultron is a classic Avengers villain (arguably THE classic Avengers villain) so it's not a surprise that he's being used. The questions all surround how he's being introduced. In the comics he's a robot designed by Hank Pym (Ant-Man) that attains sentience and wants to kill all humans. So where's Hank Pym?

Also "Age of Ultron" is a mini-series currently wrapping up in the comic book-verse. It's a pretty crazy parallel-universe type story that's virtually unfilmable and involves tons of characters that either haven't been introduced yet in the Marvel movie universe or are properties not under the control of Marvel/Disney. Is the name just a coincidence or is it really going to be influenced by the series in some roundabout way?

Where does this leave the Ant-Man film? What about Guardians of the Galaxy? Is Vin Diesel really playing The Vision? Like I said questions questions questions.
