The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, E3 Trailer

MOAR VIDEO GAME TRAILERS! This trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (ie. Zelda #22, the quest for more money) looks pretty dope. It's not Skyrim or anything (more on that later) but graphically its a big upgrade from the last Zelda game I played. It looks like there's going to be a lot non-linear, sandbox style of gameplay, which could be a lot of fun. Also the big news here is that there's going to be voice acting! I'm sure plenty of monocle's dropped at Nintendo when the dev team first proposed that.

Interesting thing here is that Nintendo is planning on releasing this for both the WiiU and they're upcoming NX. Sounds like they're going to be doing the same high-low resolution two step Sony and Microsoft are planning. Like I said yesterday, I'm really interested in where this will go. Will early adopters to the new systems regret spending a premium only to play the same games everyone else is playing? Will the current generation of consoles just get tossed aside because they can't keep up with the pack? Will having more tiered pricing options bring more people into console gaming? I don't know, I'm not particularly interested in buying a PS4.5 or Xbox 1.360 or anything but I am super interested to see what this means to the industry. Seems like everyone is betting a lot of cash on 4K and VR gaming.

Game of Hyrule

Every wondered what the intro to Game of Thrones would look like if you replaced Westeros with Hyrule? Well then, everything is coming up Milhouse for you.

Breastaurants Booming As The Restaurant Industry Struggles. Good for the Breastaurants but I won't be visiting one. I've been to Hooters I think 3 times and every single time I felt incredibly awkward. It's all so weird. I feel like if I went there enough I'd turn into George Costanza when he combined food and sex. One day I'm just eating a pastrami sandwich and HELLO..

Meet The Guy Who Hides Zelda Treasures Around Austin, Texas. I love this guy but I have a feeling this is going to end with a bomb squad and a swat team. You can't just go around hiding things in public these days. Thanks Obama.

13 Unlikely Comic Book Crossovers (That Actually Happened). It's a rare day at the comic book shop where I pick up Transformers vs GI Joe or X-Men vs Star Trek but I'm glad these crazy comics exist. I mean who else is going to feed the nerdy desire of having Captain Kirk hook up with Rogue? The Internet? I really think the Internet has better things to do.

Ralph McQuarrie's concept art for Star Wars. There's nothing new here it's just a giant imgur gallery of Ralph McQuarrie's gorgeous concept art for Star Wars. Man these are really amazing. I'm pretty excited to see that JJ Abrams is going back to these concepts for Episode VII. At least from the first look at the X-wing we say it looks like he is. I don't see any paintings of our new rolly ball robot friend in here.

The Game of Zelda, or The Legend of the Thrones

Here's a fun little animation for you. It's the Legend of Zelda done in the style of the Game of Thrones intro. Have we ever talked about how perfect the intro for Game of Thrones is? It really is the best into to a TV show since the A-Team. Reading the books you have no idea how many times I had to look at the stupid maps just to figure out where everything is. Did you know Dragonstone was like 2 miles away from Kings Landing? It's right there, you can see Russia from it and everything.

Zelda Wii U, E3 Trailer

Nintendo is sort of blowing up the internet right now with their presentation at E3. New Zelda, a bunch of Mario Spin offs, Disney Infinity 2.. stuff like that. Here's the trailer for the new Legend of Zelda game. I'm telling you right now, in a world where I have money to spare I'd buy a Wii U in a heartbeat. My son is just about of age to really enjoy games like Mario Cart and if I want to play Battlefield 15: Battlefield Harder & Buggier I could always play it on PC.

So now that I have a plan I just need like $300. Anyone want to start a goFundme for me?

License those Links

Marvel To Publish Star Wars Comics In 2015. This is big news. Bigger News if you were a comic book reader in the '80s. Back then Marvel made boat loads of money by printing books based on Toy and Movie Licences. Star Wars, GI Joe & Transformers were all best sellers. Somewhere in the '90s they let those licences go to Dark Horse, Image and a couple other smaller publishers. Currently the Star Wars books Image publishes are pretty darn good so it will be interesting to see if Marvel really rolls out the red carpet and gives the titles they publish top notch creative teams.

Shia LaBeouf: "Should God Sue Me if I Paint a River?". Wow... just wow. Shia LaBeouf is a special kind of crazy. The kind that comes from being in hollywood for your whole life. He's like Corey Feldman but instead of drugs he's immersed himself in "art".

If you're not familiar with the story, The Beef made a short film that was essentially a adaption of a comic book by Daniel Clowes (Ghost World). Of course he did it without telling Clowes and without telling anyone else it was an adaption of a previous work. When he was first caught he apologized. Kind of. Every apology he tweeted was taken from a google search for apologies. Now he's spewing crazy on what is art and what is intellectual property. Seriously, the kid is cray cray.

Sexy Wonder Woman and Triforce Aprons. WooWoo.. now I know what I'm getting my wife for Christmas 2014.

I Was An NFL Player Until I Was Fired By Two Cowards And A Bigot. If you didn't hear about this yesterday you're probably living under a rock. Or somewhere that doesn't get sports talk radio. Chris Kluwe the greatest punter in Vikings history was let go at the beginning of the season. He makes a pretty good case that it wasn't due to his performance but because he's outspoken on the issue of gay rights. It's an interesting read, especially in a post Ducky Dynasty newscycle.

I had two takeaways on the article. First off if Adrian Peterson had said the same things Kluwe did there's no way he would have been let go. Kluwe's words and actions aren't that controversial. I just believe they're too controversial in relation to his ability and that's the reason he hasn't found another job in the league. Why would a team want to deal with even a small distraction just to sign the 19th best punter in the league?

Second is that if Kluwe can be taken at his word, the special teams coach for the Vikings is a horrible person. If you ever want to know why most gay athletes don't come out until their careers are over you have to look no further than the guy the Vikings are seriously considering as a head coach.

Fistfull of Rupees

Here's a trailer for a webseries (It's still weird to me that those even exist) that re-imagines the Legend of Zelda as a spaghetti western. It's pretty cool, it might even inspire an super nerdy Halloween costume this year.

"What are you supposed to be?"

"Cowboy Zelda, duh."

Pwn Stars

Word of wisdom, if you plan on pawning a piece of the triforce don't expect to get full auction value. Seriously it's cash in hand, if you want full value put it on Ebay yourself.

Welcome to the world baby Ganondorf

The letter of all letters appeared in Game Informer this month. Hats off to Mike Ortiz, this is a great start to some awesome nerd parenting.

If I had thought of it my son would be named Lord Vader instead of Logan.

The Legend of Zelda and it's really Rad

While surfing the interwebs yesterday I ran across this old commercial for The Legend of Zelda. It's too good not to share.

I love how the two friends in this are the most sterotypical nerd/cool kid combo the casting directors could find. My guess is the only reason the cool kid is hanging out with Nerdly here is because he has a Nintendo. I'll bet you cash this whole friendship ends up in some sort of Chuck and Buck scenario (look it up).

and for the record who's parents ever helped them hook up a NES?
