Building a perfect, no-compromises aftermarket NES… for $500. I'm not sure if it's worth $500 (wait a minute, yeah I'm sure it's not) but that is one really pretty NES clone. Some day when I'm independently wealthy I'll have to pick up one of these. For the cabin of course. No more blowing RBI baseball for 20 minutes before getting it to work. Top loading baby!

The Organised Comic Con Scalpers Of Seattle. This is really a non story. ECCC sold out this year and like any sell out event there were scalpers. I guess this was news to some people but anyone that's ever been to a concert or a sporting event has had to deal with scalpers. They ask if you're selling or buying, you say no and you keep on walking. What's the big deal?

Of course I really put this here to complain about not showing up in the background of a single ECCC gallery this year. My son was dressed up as Robin and everything. The closest I got was this picture of the Rachel Nichols panel she posted to pinterest. I'm in the front row, about 3 seats too far to the right to be in the picture. Stupid non-wide angle lens camera.

38 Maps They Didn’t Teach You At School. This is the most 'murica thing I think I've ever seen. I get it that college sports are at a high demand and as such they bring in a ton of money but think about this map for a minute. Almost every state pays basketball and football coaches more than the people that actually run the entire state. USA USA USA!

Gamer Girls Magazine is a master class in pandering. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that girls who play video games can't have nice asses and hang around the apartment all day in thongs. However, when your magazine highlighting said girls starts referring to their butt cheeks as gamer pads I'm pretty sure you haven't just crossed the line of good taste you've basically crossed it, burned it to the ground and spread it's ashes out at sea (like the line would have wanted).

Congrats Gamer Girl magazine, you've made LowRider magazine look like the New Yorker.

The Durham Bulls will cosplay as RD-D2 this year

For Star Wars day the Durham Bulls, who I have been told are a minor league BA-SE-BA-LL (?) team, are dressing up as R2-D2 this year. It's all part of their "lets get people interested in Baseball by doing as many non-baseball things as possible" campaign. When asked for comment R2-D2 said "beep beep boop, wahoooooooo".

Why is everything orange?

As I mentioned on Friday, I've been working on a site redesign for quite a while. Well, here it is. It's goofy, sort of ugly, didn't have all the functionality I was looking for, but somehow feels pretty much perfect. Even the stupid "sharing is sexy" tag at the bottom of each post works for me in a ridiculously ironic non-hipsterish sort of way.

So now that I've made the site like a thousand times awesomer (and oranger) I only ask of two things from you the super sexy reader (seriously, I'm going to start calling everything sexy).

• share the blog with your friends. The facebook share tag at the bottom of each post takes like 2 clicks and about 5 seconds of your time. If you use stumble upon or digg even better. It's all there and it's just a click away.
  
  
• click on an ad every once in a while. As you've probably already noticed there's an ad to the left. By the time every thing's said and done I'll probably have a couple more on the site. I'll try and keep them as unobtrusive as possible.

Deal? Deal.

Chicks Pandering to Nerds

My tumblr has been all a twitter lately (see what I did there) about geeky girls. More specifically what makes a geeky girl a real geeky girl and not just a regular girl wearing stupid non-prescription glasses and a batman t-shirt. In almost serendipitous fashion the cats over at Filmdrunk came up with this nice little supercut of girls on talk shows saying what huge dorks they really are. I guess there's a theory out there that if you tell all the fat losers at home you like Star Trek they'll go see whatever awful romantic comedy you're in that weekend.

I don't really buy into any sort of nerd-fleecing/Hollywood conspiracy designed to remove World of Warcraft gold away from tubby bloggers pockets. My guess is it's more of young ladies trying to appear more 3-dimensional than your average Hollywood socialite. Either way it's going to take a lot more than Megan Fox in glasses and a Star Wars shirt to get me to see whatever Gerard Butler rom-com assfest she has coming out.
