Abandoned Soviet Space Shuttles: Exploring The Unbeaten Path

I think I posted a link a while ago about the abandoned Russian Military base that still houses one of their space shuttles. If I didn't I apologize because this is kind of a cool history thing. Essentially the Soviet shuttle program was abandoned decades ago and the base was just shuttered but a lot of stuff was left in it, including an unfinished shuttle.

The base is pretty well knows but I guess it's not the easiest thing in the world to get to, there's still active Russian security keeping people out of the site. These guys from this YouTube channel I've never heard of made the trek out there and took a ton of cool footage of the base. Apparently they lost a lot of their footage but what they have is well worth taking a quick break from TPS reports.

'I Hope You Get Raped Again': Women Sportswriters Listen to Men Read Vile Tweets About Them. Sweet Fancy Moses, what on earth is wrong with people? Why would you say that to someone? Especially, over something as trivial as sports? It's insane. This whole world has gone insane.

I get it when bratty teenagers who don't know any better call people homo on Xbox Live, teenagers are stupid and do stupid stuff. I don't think I'll ever understand why an adult would enjoy lobbing horrible racist or sexist insults to people on social media. What do you gain from that? Does it really make you feel better about yourself to say you're going to kill or rape someone? People are the worst.

Investigating the Avril Lavigne Conspiracy. The Avril Lavigne doppelganger conspiracy is one of my favorite because of how ridiculous it is. Like some Avril fans just can't get over the fact that the girl who sang Sk8ter-Boi would grow up to marry the guy from Nickleback. If you ask me that's exactly the kind of thing the girl who sang Sk8ter-Boi would do.

On the other hand the Katy Perry grew up to be JonBenet Ramsey thing is totally true.

Unfry! - Do you wanna kill the Batman?

Here's Unfry!, Russia's first nerd rock band with their video Do You Wanna Kill The Batman. Honestly I haven't even listen to this before I posted it. There's like two other things I want to blog about this morning but they're long form rambling nonsense and I don't really have time for that. Plus this had a cute girl dressed up as Harley and I just watched some Batman: TAS the other day, so I have Harley on the brain.

In Russia the Olympics watches you!

Earlier today a sponsored post by NBC in my facebook feed asked "Who's ready for the Winter Olympics?" Turns out everyone is except Sochi. The games officially start tomorrow and Socci is still dealing with trivial issues like, lack of snow or roaming packs of wild dogs. Then there are some slightly less trivial issues like hotels without working doors or potable water. Don't even get me started on the toilets.

No big deal, the Olympics only start tomorrow.

The last Winter Olympics in Whistler/Vancouver cost about 10 billion dollars. The price for Sochi is already at an estimated 51 Billion, and it's climbing everyday. Below is a picture of the Sochi Olympic park. It was taken on Tuesday.


Will the finished product you and I watch on TV be an absolute shit show? Probably not. NBC has paid billions of dollars to broadcast the Olympics and you can bet your bottom dollar that they'll present everything as well as humanly possible. Most Americans probably won't care that some random reporter from the UK can't drink the water in her hotel room. They just want to see the next Brian Boitano do a bunch of cool spinny things on the ice. That's fine for most Americans but for people who are really plugged in to the net I have a feeling these are going to be the most unenjoyable Olympics in a long time.
