2017 Dragon Con Cosplay Showcase

It looks like Rose City Comic Con isn't a big enough comic book conventions to have some videographer come in and do one of these slick cosplay showcases, so here's one from Dragon Con which took place the weekend before ECCC. Dragon Con is still pretty much THE place to Cosplay. San Diego gets the most mainstream media attention and technically New York is the biggest convention but for whatever reason Dragon Con is the one where like every serious cosplayer goes to flex their creativity. If I was a single dude it's also the convention I'd probably most want to go to as I've heard it's like the convention for hooking up. Again, who knows why. The heat? Good BBQ? Adequate mass transit? We'll probably never know why....

DRAGON CON 2016 - Cosplay Music Video

I've been searching the interwebs looking for a really good Rose City Comic Con Cosplay video but I've yet to find one. Instead we'll go with this one from Dragon Con a couple weeks ago. Dragon Con might not being the biggest or most famous convention but it always has the best cosplay. In the next couple years if I get the bucks to start traveling around more to different conventions it's definitely near the top of my list.

Dragon*Con 2015 Favorite Cosplay. As someone that's put together their fare share of cosplay galleries I can hands down attest tot he fact that Dragon*Con has the best Cosplay. This gallery from our friend Norman is as impressive as it is long.

Sasha Banks, The New Day, And WWE’s Black Revolution. Since Vince McMahon has run the WWF/WWE (30+ years) there have been only one black wrestler to hold the top belt. Plenty of black wrestlers have held the other title belts but the Rock (who some argue that in this context he isn't Black enough, whatever that means) is the only one to be the chosen face of the company. That's a pretty awful track record.

I Went Undercover to Find Out What It Takes to Be an Underpaid NBA Cheerleader. Over the last few years there have been a lot of stories about how being a professional cheerleader sucks. I don't doubt them one bit. However, if there are a thousand girls willing to take your job are you really underpaid? There's sort of a supply and demand thing going on here, if the job's not worth it you shouldn't take it. Maybe they should all unionize.

Hands-on with the iPad Pro, its keyboard, and its pencil. I give Apple a ton of flack, most of it stems back to how awful the original Mac was compared to the Apple IIgs, but the IIgs was buried while the Mac was pushed to the moon all because Steve Jobs didn't really like computers. Also Apple fanboys are the worst. Anyway, this new iPad Pro and the pencil thingy it comes with actually has my interest. I know they're not really doing anything that hasn't been done before but as an artist I really want to play with it. Sitting on the couch watching NXT drawing comics on my tablet eating a big block of cheese. That's the dream right there.

Dragon Con 2014 Cosplay

I saved up a bunch of cosplay pictures from this year's Dragon Con but there's no way I'm going to get around to making a post out of them. I kinda prefer watching these videos to looking at pictures anyway. It's kinda like a buzzfeed quiz. How many of these nerdy costumes can you identify in 3 seconds or less?

I know I've mentioned this before but Blogger did this big redesign a few months ago and it's made it harder to put together posts with lots of pictures in them. Overall The redesign has grown on me but because the blogger template I'm using is a bit customized I have to edit code to get pictures to look just the way I want them. It can be really time consuming. That's why probably 70 percent of all my posts are youtube video these days.

With that in mind, here's another youtube video featuring some of the amazing Marvel cosplay at this year's Dragon*Con. It's pretty impressive what a bunch of nerds can do with a sewing machine when they really put their minds to it. El Guapo wouldn't have stood a chance.

I think I've used the Gangnam Style like 5 times in the last 10 days, that's is cray cray. Anyhoo, here are a bunch of nerds at this years Dragon*Con singing and dancing along to everyone's favorite K-pop superstar, PSY. I never did a cosplay post for Dragon*Con so I guess this kills 2 birds with one stone?

Dragon*Con might not get the mainstream coverage ComicCon does but that doesn't mean it isn't as equally huge a deal in nerdom. It's not just a great place for slutty nerds to hook up, It's quickly becoming the gold standard for cosplay.

I mean ComicCon always has some really great cosplay but at Dragon*Con they take that sh*t serious (and yes, I thought that use of the asterisk was really clever). Here's some of the better outfits I could find on the tumblr and googles.

btw, This time the "read more" tag at the bottom of the post will actually bring up more pictures. I swear I'm working on a more permanent solution for that thing.
