How far back in time could you go and still understand English?

If you're like me at all you spend like 40% of your day daydreaming about going back in time. It doesn't always have to be A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court kind of scenario, sometimes its something as simple as imagining the look on 1982 Steve Wozniak's face as you fire up Game of Thrones on your smartphone.

But lets say you really wanted to get your joust on and you did go back in time like 1,00 years. Would you be able to understand English? I mean if you already read Timeline by Michael Crichton you would know the answer is no, but if you haven't read timeline, here's a clever little youtube video telling you the same thing.

Christmas Wish List: More Time

Every day in December (newborn baby schedule permitting) I plan on posting one thing from my official DevilDinosaur Christmas Wish List (patent pending). Why? Because I can.

One of the things you become keenly aware of when you have kids is how you have zero time for anything anymore. This last weekend I had 4 things on my to do list. Grocery shopping, Laundry, put together a calendar on shutterfly.com for a Christmas gift and put all the boxes I took out of the crawlspace to get to the Christmas decorations back into the crawlspace. And that's the short realistic to do list. The real to do list includes things like picking up all the rotten apples that fell from my trees and washing the bird crap off my car.

So what did we get accomplished this weekend? Laundry and Grocery shopping. To be fair we also made a quick trip to Fred Meyer to pick up my son a new pair of jeans. So I guess we got 3 things done.

Long story short, I need a time machine so that I can do important things with it like Christmas Shopping and cleaning up my basement. I promise I won't try to kill Hitler with it or anything.

edit: That makes it sound like I'm pro Hitler or something. I'm totes not. I'm just pro-time space continuum. I don't need a Tardis landing on my roof, I just really need to get those rotten apples picked up.

Soapbox time. Last night we probably got half the trick-or-treaters we usually get and man did most of their costumes suck. I saw almost zero superheroes, no pro wrestlers and like two Star Wars kids. The best costume of the night came from a kid dressed up as Harry Potter. He had the robes, scarf, scar, glasses the whole package. Next year these kids better step up their game or I'm handing out floss.

10 Bizarre Television Conspiracy Theories. Really there's one good theory here (the Saved by the Bell one) and a bunch of bunk. When you think about it, it totally makes sense. Especially the summer spent at the beach club.

I Hate Buzzfeed. I'm with this guy. Buzzfeed used to be a perfectly nice little web aggregator but over the last year or so they've turned into this SEO behemoth that can't stop spitting out shitty articles like "OMG, 15 TV shows from the 90s that you probably liked" or "the 12 cutest cats that look like Barack Obama". Worst part about it is they source everything from Reddit so it's not even original shitty content it's ripped off shitty content. Stupid Buzzfeed.

All the Evidence that Time Travel is Happening All Around Us. I've made the point before that my son looks so much like I did at his age that I'm 99.9 percent sure he is a time displaced baby me. Leaving adult me to raise myself. I'm not quite sure how the hospital did that, but I'll get to the bottom of it soon.

Destructiod's Batman Arkham Origins Review breaks the internet. Long story shortish, Destructiod isn't as large of a video game site as Kotaku or IGN but they're still pretty reputable. Earlier this week their lead review guy Jim Sterling DESTROYED Batman Arkham Origins. It caused quite the web-wide controversy.

He makes a lot of good points in his review but I feel a lot of his criticism can be read as more of a condemnation of the video game industry as a whole. My guess is when he gave the game a 3.5 out of 10 he did it with the express purpose of making waves. Still, good read.

It was tough but I survived 10 days of beach, family and sunshine in Carmel CA. I didn't see any reality TV stars but I did see a guy in a Ferrari 250GT and a dog in a funny sweater.

Here's a trailer for new Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis movie Looper. In in JGL plays a hit man hired to kill himself. I'm a sucker for a good time travel movie and I might have a bit of a man crush on Levitt, so I'm really looking forward to this one.

Safety Not Guaranteed

If there's two things I'm a sucker for it's movies about time travel and movies set in Seattle. If there's a third thing I'm a sucker for it's Fun Dip. Man that stuff is awesome. When you're done you get to eat the stick! It took me forever to figure out that the stick tastes like cream soda.

Anyhoo, here's a trailer for a new movie called Safety Not Guaranteed, based on an internet meme from like forever ago. It stars that guy from The new Girl, that girl from Parks and Rec and that guy from the League. It's like a indie film supergroup. I'll bet you money I don't see it in the theater complain that America is stupid when it tanks and then love it when it comes out on DVD. I call that move the Scott Pilgrim.

The Masturbating Bear returns to Conan. I can't believe that NBC tried to claim the Masturbating Bear as intellectual property. You can't own the idea of a bear pleasuring himself. That's mother nature man!

The Best of Geek Squad Gus. It's real easy to rag on the Geek Squad guys but someone has to help dad set up his wireless network and it sure isn't going to be me. Ok, it was me but still not all old people have kids.
