New Doctor Who trailer

This new Doctor Who trailer hit the interwebs this last weekend. In has dinosaurs, The Pyramids and the Doctor wearing a stetson, so you know it's good.

Catwoman's a stripper now

As The Dark Knight Rises ramps up shooting in Pittsburg the rumors have really started flying about just what roles everyone is playing. The newest being that Bane is going to be a male stripper instead of a criminal-minded Luchador. Wait, it's not Bane it's Catwoman? Oh that makes way more sense.

Catwoman is apparently one of the most well written characters we’ve seen in these movies so far and she could potentially steal the show the way Heath Ledger did last time. She does some cool stuff in the movie like jumping out of windows and stealing the Batpod. Her back story is that she has a history of abuse and works as a stripper and is also a pickpocket.

Forgive me a second of hand wringing over this one but this seems like sort of hacky screenwriting. It's not like this is one of those things that's going to ruin a movie for me or anything, but if there were as many Strippers with a heart of gold in real life as there are in movies I'd know a lot more girls named Crystal and Porche. My Facebook page would probably be way more interesting too.

Maybe in the WB should just get it over with any make a movie out of The Pro.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes is poop throwingly awesome

best scene in any movie ever.
I'm not really in the habit of reviewing movies (at least movies that aren't on SyFy at 3am), but this weekend I was able to see the new Planet of the Apes movie and let me tell you, it was awesome.

Forget the awful (but at times entertaining) Tim Burton remake, Rise of the Planet of the Apes is a straight up prequel to the 1968 classic. In fact in an obtuse sort of way it makes for a better sequel to that movie than Beneath the Planet of the Apes does, even while it ignores the convoluted continuity built in the 1970s sequels.

See this is why I don't review movies. 4 sentences in and I'm already talking about Ape continuity. Back to my point, it's a real good movie and if you're a fan of the Charleton Heston original, it's a great movie. It's got everything you want from a big summer action film: action, heart, apes, a lack of Michael Bay. Just go see it, you won't be disappointed.

Escape from the planet of Links

5 more impractical ideas for Bioshock cities. I finally finished Bioshock this week, man that is a great game. Story-wise it's right up there with some of the best games I've ever played. If you're like I was and you still haven't played it, either borrow it from me or go pick it up at gamestop for 10 bucks.

Blizzard responds to Diabo III complaints. Turns out a constant internet connection will be required to play D3, even in single player mode. Doesn't really effect me, but I guess this could suck for people who do a lot of mobile gaming.

NA NA NA NA NA NA NA Catwoman

Here's the first look at Anne Hathaway as catwoman in the upcoming indie film The Dark Knight Rises. I guess she looks ok, I mean she's no Lee Meriwether.

Oh yeah, and here's the first picture of Henry Cavill as Superman. Even though the last thing we need is another Superman reboot, this looks pretty awesome. Sure he's no Lee Meriwether, but who is?

Look out the Racists are angy

I mentioned in the links yesterday that Marvel has killed off Peter Parker and given us a new Spider-Man. Well they didn't kill the real Peter Parker, they killed the Ultimate version of Peter Parker. See, Marvel has this line of comics called "Ultimate" set in a different universe where everyone is younger and they can revisit old storylines with fresh new... man, sometimes it's hard being a comic geek.

Anyway, this new Spider-Man, who's not the real Spider-Man, is now some mix raced kid named Skippy Morales or something. Honestly I didn't really pay attention, I don't read Ultimate Spider-Man anymore. Of course you know who did pay attention? Racists! Racists are always paying attention... and reading USA Today (I think it's the colorful graphs). Here's a few of the highlights from their comment section (followed by my witty commentary of course).

Someday why don't you come over to the house (I just pressure washed the deck) and I'll tell you in detail about Ben Reilly, the Clone of Peter Parker that turned out to be the original Peter Parker but then sales tanked and he became a clone again and was shipped off to nowhereville where no one ever talks about him. After we're done with that we can discuss how Peter Parker sold his marriage to the Devil over some cookies and tea. If you have time before you leave we'll talk about Werewolf Captain America and Thor Frog.
